Yes, but don't use chinkseek. Try something like Magnum v4. You can run a 22b k6 quant easy. Install koboldcpp, then use sillytavern for the frontend. Download cards from chub.ai or write your own.

Some of the 27-30b models are also good and a lot more approachable according to /g/ (30 something gb?). Test out the models before you buy any new hardware

A relic of the past. There used to be an intense debate on how to properly structure information in a card. People came up with all sorts of hypotheses on what the optimal format should be to achieve the highest quality output and accuracy per token used. So much so that it became the focus of a lot of tutorials. None of it matters anymore as context size and model intelligence are no longer scarce resources but those tutorials still linger.

More specifically, back then there were meme formats, so you'd see some cards structured like:
>clothes: {white shirt; black skirt}
>body: {big tits; big ass}
This was a thing back in the Pygmalion days that persisted for annoyingly long, but for newer models it's actually detrimental. LLMs tend to repeat things and all, so if you use descriptions like these it'll be more likely to give you short, dry messages.
The closest you can have to a non-meme format is putting different things in different paragraphs (while still describing them with normal text instead of shitty tags) so it'll be easier to edit later and there'll be no risk of accidentally writing the same thing several times and forgetting to write other things.

The first one isn't necessary for the AI, it's more for yourself and whoever might want to edit the card, but it's not going to hurt. With more current models you're likely going to get very similar if not identical results.
The one thing that could make a difference is how you actually write the descriptions.

Each of these examples is going to influence the AI to write the replies in a similar style. The style of the defs isn't going to have as much weight as the greetings or example messages (if you add any), but it's definitely taken in consideration. And if you choose to let the AI make the greetings instead of trying to write them yourself, then those descriptions (along with the presets and your instructions) are the one thing it'll have as a point of reference.
