Maybe if they started doing concerts 1-2 years earlier, they'd have enough clout to do so. They can't just walk up to Madison Square and ask them to please let them do a concert, it requires a lot of proven sales and probably some glowing reviews from venue owners. They're probably trying to curry favor and make sure things go smoothly.

That's a pretty wide gap, I'm assuming they'd dos something like Radio City which has 6k and is in a theater setup. Most of the huge halls and event centers lose seating when they convert from sports/event setups to linear theaters.

It is extremely difficult to run concerts in NYC because of union shit that is attached to nearly all of the venues.

I remember hearing some of the bits with Phase Connect doing ANYC main stage, they had to use union workers and a lot of the songs the girls put in requests for were rejected by the convention itself because of legal things. Hololive already was accustomed to this because they have run NY before.
Union workers were probably why their NYC concert went off flawlessly, whereas the prior one they had in California was a shit show run by volunteers.
