My dad was a Sega guy, bought a Genesis and played it at least as much as I did when I was a kid, though he gradually lost interest in videogames as he got older I remember him getting me a Dreamcast when it came out and having lots of cool memories with it. I think PSO on the Dreamcast was the first real "MMO" I played as well (I guess in retrospect it was more of a game like Diablo with co-op lobbies of a few people at a time but it felt like a MMO back then to me) and made a lot of friends there I was close to for many years

Nah I had a friend who had a Sega CD but I never had one and the Saturn kind of flew under my radar at the time. Though he did get me a subscription for Sega Channel for a while when that was a thing, anyone remember that? It was pretty overpriced but it was awesome as a kid having this big library of games you could play instantly at any time on a subscription basis back when stuff like digital content distribution was basically unheard of. Lot of games I only discovered and experienced because I saw them on there.

Sometimes exceptions get made for a streamer that normally only does retro playing a retro style game but even that is iffy. Like the UFO 50 streams don't get discussed much here even though retro chuubas tend to love it. It's one reason Yuria isn't posted more because she plays more retro style games than retro games.
However going by /vr/ rules homebrewed games for older consoles can still count. There was a GBA game released in 2023 that a sheep girl was playing yesterday and a slug girl Jorunna is working on a homebrew Gameboy game that will be able to be played by an actual gameboy.
