It makes most sense to do as the company went through a large number of departures.
Just ditch them all entirely and call it some new unit, then continue new gens from then on.
If, or when, the same thing happens with newer gens afterwards, repeat the same rolling in to a new major grouped unit.
It stops people from being isolated and feeling alone, even if in a sense it's just some "official" shit, a mere label, it still gets the image away from "most of my gen are gone", which does have some subconscious weight to it any time it is brought up.

My only issue is the fact they already rebranded and re-consolidated already in a way when they got rid of language branches last year. Why didn't they go doing all of that earlier and do the rebrand then or even earlier with the new gen debut? Waiting for Offkai Gen 4 from whenever they decided on the rebrand was basically a guaranteed death sentence since it was a long march to get to this point. This wasn't even a decision spurred on from recent events but in the works for quite a while.
