It's why when LPs still dominated stream VODs, grinding bosses was heavily edited material. LPer would show the first few runs in full, capture the big eyepopper moments, the winning run, and flip through the rest. I guarantee that 99% of the viewer metrics for any Malenia vods are: opening cutscene, first death to WFD, soijaking at the phase transition, first deaths to shadow clones and WFD in phase 2, any deaths with her being onehit from death, and then victory. The other 6 hours of content are mostly watched only by clippers and dramatubers looking for rage/death montages of instances of gamer words. It's not a good stream because the streamer is under enormous pressure to execute even though this is universally a multi-hour learning curve. They're either malding or dissociated from the immersive experience, either way they're not having fun. Chat is malding or trying to backseat, all the gamurzzz in the audience are upset that streamer isn't winning first try and judging gamer cred. Nothing super interesting is happening on camera because streamer is dying to the same thing over and over again like a reinforcement learning agent. The only people feasting are the underage ironic viewers who are just in it to see gamer rage and clip farmers.

Echoing this astute anon; its worse in a souls like series because you have to play it in a very specific way to progress the game. Which means unless the streamer is doing something novel it plays out the same as it will for every streamer that comes before or after.
In the moment its unique, kind of like watching race horses. Will she win? Is this the one? ...but I personally like cheese or overleveling so with that information mind iirc there's some dark magic Malenia can't guard against and makes the fight a joke but figuring that out alone is obtuse and trying to inform the streamer on stream...well, you know how that goes.
I generally rest my eyes during long boss grinds and open my eyes to shitpost occasionally so they do make good background noise but I couldn't imagine watching intently for hours. I shy away from souls games because it's not the kind of game I like so I'm glad she's playing it so I dont have to.

Boss grinds in soulslikes tended to not be so extreme as in Elden Ring. You wouldn't see entire streams, or entire series of streams, be dedicated to "just killing Malenia/Radahn/Godskin Duo/Godfrey/etc" like you do in Elden Ring. Even the hardest traditional Soulslike bosses, like Friede or Gael, would need only like half the time as your typically Elden Ring megaboss, especially for first time newfags. Elden Ring, specifically, is absurd and presents a unique roadblock to making good stream content with it.
