I feel it's a two part issue for me. Lack of party collabs and really mediocre clippers.

I wish they played more party games and had better banter. You can tell some girls clam up and can't fake it, and talent get really overbearing.

The clippers also just kind of suck and tend to clip "newsworthy" moments or talking bits which would only appeal to diehard fans. I usually browse clips and maybe check out a stream if something looked good.

Normally I just end up watching holo JP since the girls are usually playing mario kart or some other multiplayer game. Of course they have an advantage they're all cut from the same culture, and many of them bond offline too which improves their stream banter. I could only assume for fans who enjoy just watching their favorite play a single player game- they're probably fine with the current times.

Vtubing is very "risky", Hololive lost the entire chinese market when vtubing was at it's peaks.
Nijisanji lost their hopes of investing on the international/EN market because of drama.
Any misunderstanding with one singular talent already puts everyone else at risk. So the entire company has to act as safe as possible, whether it be on talent hires and gaming/stream idea choices.

Cover has given EN way too much leeway and avoided pushing any real competition, which has led to a drop in both quality and quantity.
Just look at last night. JP had over twenty streams going during four hours of primetime. EN? Pretty much nothing. And sure, it’s a bit better than three years ago when things were at their worst, but it’s still not great.
A big part of the problem is how expensive it is to maintain Holo talents. With guaranteed 3D and live performance support, scaling just doesn’t work. And EN doesn’t bring in nearly as much profit as JP does to justify it.
Because there’s no competition, EN members have gotten way too comfortable. A lot of them are lazy and entitled. They know they won’t get punished for not streaming, phoning in low-effort content, or even leaving the company. It barely affects their wallet either way.

The graduations of their top talents (No, Moom is not one of them) not only killed the magic but also demoralized a lot of the general audience, because it felt like all the support from their fans didn't meant shit for them, and that feeling kind of spread off to the rest of the girls.
I genuinely can't remember the last time I saw any original or at least creative idea for a stream, the only thing that comes to mind is CC's pouch-tomo stream and that was 7 months ago. It just feels like everyone left in EN are kinda just...too corporate yknow? I mean i like Biboo and Gigi and CC and Raora but they dont have the magic that the first 2 EN gens had. And despite the fact that I think Gura is a lying, lazy and careless bitch whose primary interest is getting every cent she can out of her fans, she had more wit and streaming talent in 1 toenail than the entire EN side of Hololive put together. No other talent could spawn the "gallons" meme on their own like she did.
Tldr: Hololive needs more entertainers and less idols. Ideally they should be able to do both but if not then they should lead more towards the entertainer aspect thsn the idol aspect

Unfortunately I've never really focused on EN and just saw clips of them here and there. I started with JP and have stuck to JP, but since I've dove more into the fan community and meetup scene I'm trying to give the EN side more attention. Fauna was pretty good because she had a lot of wit and personal stories to share- what a shame.
I want to say large collaborative events would be interesting but at the same time... the girls just don't really vibe well. I really enjoy seeing the JP girls' big events but they're all coming from the same background and actually enjoy interacting with their coworkers (or pretend to). This is probably because many of them bond offline.
When the EN girls do stuff it's just a tad awkward with the many different personalities.
I'm not really sure what the fix would be for them.

Talents don't stand out based on putting hard work into something they're passionate about, they get rewarded for half-assing things, as long as they're funny in the process (which means regurgiating Tiktok and Twitter memes 99% of the time). Think about what gets popular. Nerissa covering a popular song or Biboo tax? The latter.
