A lot of PhD and Masters students are unemployable depending on their field of study, and this becomes even worse if they don’t work in their field directly after graduation. One of the reasons people in NA even get into post grad is because they can’t find a job and feel pressured to continue moving up in education, instead of branching into a “lower status” field of work through certifications or apprenticeships. If employers see a 5 year or more gap in your resume since school and application, you’re basically counted as not having a degree at all.
