The RX-8 has been used for 5 Transformers: 4 variations of a full-size toy, and a mini version of one of those variations.
The police car variation is from the Japanese manga/audio story exculsive Kiss Players, where Transformers got powered up by kisses from anime girls, and could also nakedly merge with them. There's fanart potential there just ready to be realised.

Every time I see an RX-8 I’m reminded of an interaction I had on PS Home, the old social “game” on the PS3. In the bowling alley, I was chatting with someone when we started talking about cars. I told him I had an 05 GTO and another guy came from all the way across the alley - he was literally as many lanes away as possible - saying “LOL GTO SO SLOW” repeatedly. Then he started saying how the RX-7 and RX-8 are the best cars ever made.
