Being shipped is incredibly awkward for the people involved unless they have the right mindset. Even if those people are actually in a relationship it would be awkward if the fan interpretation differs from reality. Most EN ships are just cases of good friends being depicted as lovers and that makes most people uncomfortable - imagine hanging out with a good friend and someone completely unrelated to both of you starts drawing you having sex or getting upset if one of you starts dating or even just talking outside "the ship", it would be very annoying.

Just continued exposure really; they've been each others most collabed partner for a whole year straight, with almost a consistency of at least one collab per week. They also don't the do flirt then hihi style of ship, and more like sisters doing dumb shit together, and they do dumb shit together ALOT, both on and off stream together. For some reasons other Holomems that sees this also feed onto it like early AmeSame, but there was no Debuffson cockblocking it, hence it got into an even insane feedback loop. One thing to note is they also seems to have no problem with it, I assume both never see it as something romanctic (Gigi being tumblr mind while Cece is too guarded) hence they can make jokes on it without self cringing or worrying about how other people see them.

Ame didn't want to be seen as a sidekick, Mori went too hard on being "tsun" on top of not really taking Hololive seriously until later, Kronii's comment on shipping just being for fun broke the illusion, Shiori just makes some sex jokes to play along but can be too brutal wording and its obvious she's not really into it. Baerys is in kinda a weird spot where they can flip flop in being a ship or not due to them going for a divorce dynamic.

Also, its not like its that limited to HoloEN, a number of HoloJP ships have pretty much sunk when one or both started to want to "distance" themselves from it.

GG is like a top tier mood reader, she knows when to push for off beat unhinged stuff and knows when to dial it back.
