I would go as far as to say you really shouldn't turn the friendship into content beside maybe yapping about hanging out together

Really depends on the chuubas and type of collab I think. I enjoyed the Lisa and Yena streams for example.

It all depends on a chuuba and the kind of things she wants to do as well as on chemistry between collabers.
It is mostly a detriment because chuubas most often lean on heavy interaction with their parasocial chat, but there is nothing preventing a chuuba from focusing entirely on colabs and doing a talk shows with invited guests or something.

It can be weird because some girls are really good at having fun small interactions like 5% of the time with their collabs and then mostly talking to chat about the collab (see: puri in large collabs) vs some who pretty much only interact with their collab partner(s) during collabs without interacting with chat at all. That can be fine but if your collab partner is a very different style of content/discussion to what you normally do and there's no chat interaction you can end up with very awkward streams for viewers where they're just waiting for you to go on a monologue rather than interact with the other person

No, I agree with this take. I also disagree with the “depends on the vTuber” replies, because I Fucking Hate collabs. I’ve only liked those where I really like both vTubers and they display a real discernible friendships, which is rare and not worth the risk. More than two people becomes an annoying stream of women laughing at each other’s laughs and talking over each other, while ignoring their respective chats. I rather, like you, would prefer they didn’t collab and just talked on stream about their friendship and interactions they have outside streaming.

I don't like disparaging any of our girls in general but it certainly feels like some of them and some of the people around them only stream when they can do collabs/interactions with other girls and the moment they have to provide solo content they start to slow to a crawl. I get wanting to make friends and stuff but it feels like they're busy distracting actual content creators from creating content so they can feel like part of a community. I don't mind the occasional collab between girls who each independently produce a reasonable amount of content but I'm like you in that the actual collab itself is only something good once in a blue moon

Eh you'll burn yourself a bunch if you think you must do something productive with a hobby, it's meant for you to be unproductive during your downtime. Taking biking for example I'm basically converting money into noise and and worn tires but I'm discovering new routes and scenic areas. I could turn a profit by flipping a couple of bikes, but then it turns into a chore. However, anecdotally, I'll say that having shit like vtubing and basically living vicariously through streams as a main or sole hobby is a legit downward spiral for your mind.
