as someone who's worked in an upper management position and then quit and went back to the same place as a part time employee, it just doesn't work. it's impossible to get your brain out of manager mode when you're in the same environment. i would find myself thinking things about my middle manager boss like "oh well if it was me i'd do it like this and it'd be wat better" or "damn they're incompetent i should just be doing this still" or "i used to be their boss and now they think they can tell me how to do my job?" it's incredibly toxic and made me very stressed, resentful, and depressed.
