Some of the fights have cool moments, but it's usually drawn out over way too many episodes.
Also an issue with the entire series is the inconsistency of characters' strength.
You'll have hundreds of episodes of them lobbing around planet destroying attacks, deflecting said planet destroy attacks from opponents, etc.
Then they'll get mortally wounded from a raygun, take damage from a rock being thrown at them, etc. because they weren't keeping their guard up or something.
People blame the "power level" metric introduced in DBZ but ultimately it's a failure of the writing.

Outside of that, usually the animation isn't anything spectacular outside of the movies and fight climaxes, it drags on REALLY long for most arcs, the pacing is inconsistent.
The music is pretty good though, and like I said the fights do have good moments. It's just a slog to get to the good moments.
And unfortunately, most of the other media like the games ends up changing the story slightly, but it's far more digestable to get to the actual meat of the story.
Great for kids that have far more time to spend watching hundreds of episodes, similar to all the other drawn out shonen series.
