it was a good move on her part, rather than be JP Vtuber #3481649 she managed to carve her niche as an ESL Jap that tries her best to learn english, appeal to American fans/culture. This in turn lead to her stable growth overtaking other vtubers in the process. Plus Global currency (mostly USD and euros) are worth more than Jap currency. Plus global whales are more likely to donate than JP since JP are full of great vtubers that they can choose to support. She is a bit hard to understand at first but she improved her English bit by bit. Plus her fans seem to like that she is not fully EN proficient and she might just be continuing the act of mega ESL for her fans (or maybe not).
