I’m not sure I want to be part of this anymore. Inb4 don’t let the door hit you on the way out. I’m considering quitting streaming entirely because I don’t think there’s a way to clear my association with /asp/ once I leave. I don’t like the things I read about myself on the thread, and I think the only way to make it stop is to stop streaming entirely. Nothing has been worse that /asp/ for my self esteem in recent months. I didn’t expect a hugbox but by God, I just wanted somewhere to ask technical questions and support small indies who do cool shit.
There were three secrets of mine leaked. They’re minor but it’s still concerning because if they’re leaking secrets, they aren’t really friends and I question their actual intentions in our chats. I checked my logs and saw that there were only a few people I actually told these secrets to. Five or so for each, and to the same five people. That means it’s one of them that leaked. They claim I “told everyone” the secrets but it turns out I only told five people the one that gets talked about the most. So it’s one of them.
What’s disappointing is the five people are people I would have never guessed would leak the secrets. They’re respected here, very seiso, drama-free, but at least one of them had to have been the leaker.
I’m not going to Google Doc anyone because frankly, it’s a nothingburger, but it’s made me very wary of being part of the community and getting close to anyone on anything but a purely professional level.
The secret leaks have only given the schizo fuel. When enough people are reading, the schizo gets shot down (cooldown is the tell) and it’s nice to see not everyone hates me. But it’s so hard to tell if I’m actually wanted here, given the schizoing, given the (minor) betrayals and breaches of trust. There’s enough bad faith actors that I don’t know if /asp/ as a thread or as a community is really good. What would happen if the actual streamers stopped posting and just let the thread die? And just reconnected elsewhere like Twitter and Discord? Would the schizos just get better at masking?
Sorry for blog posting. The goodbye isn’t an an hero situation. I just want to go back to my other hobbies.

I say this with complete authenticity: this is a very sane post. You’re almost onto something. I’m trauma bonded to /asp/ and genuinely wish I could never look at this thread again, another /asp/ie I’m close to is in the same boat so we’re going to try and support each other in leaving this thread for good but for right now I’ve completely given up on vtubing and have gone back to my other hobbies. It feels very refreshing. Being a part of this ‘community’ has been incredibly damaging to my mental health. I hope you have better luck than I have, because you sound like you’re aware early on, which is good. Especially “the schizo”, he literally wants certain people to stop existing and considers it his life mission to make these people suffer so much they merely blip out of existence.
