And pesticides are far from the only evil of modern farming. Soil erosion, water use and waste, nutrient depletion, fertilizer run off, land usage, and just allowing for the explosion of the population in general. There is a very good argument to be made that plant products are worse for the environment than animal products. Wild animals harmed through plant production are harmed unintentionally and without benefit, where as the animals harmed in factory farms were brought into this world for the sole and express purpose of being eaten. By far the worst part of animal farming is the plant farming necessary for it. Not to say the situation is hopeless, just that anyone who makes out like the way to change is through veganism is either delusional or a plant. Veganism was either invented or encouraged by the powers that be to weaken the sensitives: it's a black blanket to smother the canaries of humanity.
