This was my thinking behind being vegetarian until my sister started vet school and showed me how much slaughterhouses have improved. For the most part, they strive to use the most humane methods to kill animals, contrary to what PETA claims.

Plus, your personal diet doesn’t really do much to stop those animals from being killed (they’re bred for slaughter anyway). All you’re doing is fucking up your own eating habits.

There is a very good argument to be made that plant products are worse for the environment than animal products. Wild animals harmed through plant production are harmed unintentionally and without benefit, where as the animals harmed in factory farms were brought into this world for the sole and express purpose of being eaten. By far the worst part of animal farming is the plant farming necessary for it. Not to say the situation is hopeless, just that anyone who makes out like the way to change is through veganism is either delusional or a plant.
