It's a much more modern version with more modern sensibilities of characterization. It hits the same story beats but it changes a lot of the focus to romanticize different things. Odysseus is a much "better" and more honorable man than he was and the moral dilemmas he faces that shape him throughout are pretty much all new additions to the story to recontextualize it.
It's important to remember that the odyssey is not a novel you were meant to sit down and read, it's a poem and it was meant to be recited orally by bards and teachers. It's a bit hard to translate as something today because it wasn't just a story you read for leisure but a foundation of greek culture and identity.
