Project A gets delayed or needs approval, so then project B soon begins. Well, deadlines for C just jumped up because it'll interfere with project D you didn't know about until time for B. Suddenly, you get word back A is a go, so... You have to make up for lost time on A, B is already underway, and C is now a rush to get things done before D starts up and your workload destroys your last bits of sleep (And energy). That's triple the work you planned on, and there's hardly any room to change things.
