Their is a reason Ellie still stands up for Vedal still being a good engineer (he isn't) is because he shows that side to her as he respects her a lot more then others so he has something to prove everytime he's working with her. Ellie talked about seeing him actually do his work and knowing he can do it so I'm less nervous about a crazy amount of scruff at least right now
