They raised 11 million in capital, they spend it on new outfits or projects for their talents, and somehow the company makes a profit despite only taking cuts from merch and sponsorships? With the benefit of hindsight it absolutely sounds like a scam, there's no way you can sustain an entire company like that, especially if you're based in somewhere like California while having a Japanese location and presumably paying staff at that.
And that 11 million isn't a gift, those investors will want to see a return on investment as quickly as possible and then some. It's frankly a miracle that the company even survived up until now.
