I think if you had to make a hard definition for retro, everything pre-xbox 360 would be a decent one. Every console before that one was standard def, wired controllers, physical media only, and very limited online functionality. But I think for a lot of people retro just means bad graphics and the PS2 generation was too good to fit.

And so it's not like she was some small fry. She had enough money saved up to where she didn't even mind not being paid for almost an entire year. She was one of the most super chatted Vtubers of all time AND literally got the company to redo her contract to offer her an even more lucrative cut than what she had originally. And this is a company that literally survived off of nothing but merch.

Merch does make a lot, because it's produced for pennies overseas and then sold at $20 to $30 minimum. But, keep in mind the company also was responsible for rigging and finding artists for all their models, offering 3D rigging to their talents, and promotions of them, etc etc. If I'm not mistaken, the talents did not pay for any of the rigging or the models themselves meaning that people like ironmouse who have literally 30 plus models that they never use, got those all for free. I don't actually think that there was embezzlement. My honest guess is that the company ran out of money and was using money from stuff like charity donations and drives to kind of help fund things behind the scenes because investors were flaking.
The company depended entirely upon venture capital for it to survive and I think that that just kind of fell off.

And not entirely without good reason, I want you to do a scenario where you pretend to be an investor. I'm going to pitch you my company and you can tell me whether or not you think that's going to make anything.

So, I want you to invest in my company but I don't have anything that I could actually offer you. None of our talents aside from one can actually sing and dance, some of them don't even regularly stream, one of them is a literal pornstar, there is no real group unity and we don't pride ourselves on that. We don't really have any conventions lined up, while we have a big following on twitch we don't really know what to do and don't really have any sort of plans to follow up on doing anything because none of our talents quite frankly really want to do anything. A lot of them just want to sit there and kind of just stream all day which we tell them is fine. We are planning on offering a contract where they take 100% of all their donations, ad revenue, We pay for their models, alongside any redesigns that they want, will offer a 3D for them, but the little bit of merch that we'll produce we'll take maybe a 50% cut but We might also work with talents to renegotiate their contracts and give them an even higher cut of the merch.

I would still guess that almost all financials went through them first. Because that way they could actually account for both their taxes and your taxes. Keep in mind one of the things they were offering was accountants. What better way to keep track of finances than to have all the finances deposited to you first? Mint can still have success as a vtuber, she can easily maintain her audience and live off her streams, but the drive and ability required to do bigger projects is all dried up.
