They promised her more, higher position and unrealistic stuff to poach and she fell for it and Yagoo wasn't gonna match unrealistic offer. She just mostly let people assume things and shit on Hololive, only denying briefly from time to time to act innocent. Gunrun probably wanted to fan the flames of assumptions against Hololive and told her to say certain things. Probably all the "I'm tired of x" and "talent freedom" was all suggested by him and she went along with it. Coco decided to leave Hololive in March or April of 2021 for a few reasons, but the big two were Cover isolating her because of their fear of Chinese spammers while doing nothing to help, and repeatedly turning down her ideas for projects (not unique to Coco, even Pekora and Marine had projects rejected in this era and were upset as well).
Kson returned a month after Coco graduated, and was independent for a full year.
She only met VShojo by accident while organizing 3D concert for herself. The venue she was about to film at had to be closed suddenly due to COVID (remember Japan was still strict about that into 2022), and when reaching out to contacts for help. The person who ended up helping her find a new venue also said "Hey you should talk to this group that is thinking of expanding to Japan."

There was no moment of overlap, no time when she was still with Cover and also talking to VShojo.

That is literally an advantage nowadays. Look at recent Holo hires, you got people like ERB and Riona who can do those things pretty well but are treading water at best in terms of growth. Look at AZKi who became more popular when she stopped singing as much and just played Microsoft Flight Simulator and Geoguessr all day. Singing was never the point of idols, it was just a demonstration of growth that was easily observable.
The most important part to be successful in Hololive is to be unique to bring in new people or have your own niche, able to hold an audience's attention, and able form a connection with that audience so that they do things like buy merch and travel across the world for concerts. I believe Coco could still do this with a little momentum from general Holofans.

I might be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure Selen (and I think one other person, I could be wrong) said something similar. That NijiEN management shot down every Holo/Niji collab request for like 2 years because they were jealous of the HoloEN girls popularity.

There's a reason people are scared when Yagoo will inevitably stop being a CEO. In an insane turn of events, a company got a CEO that just liked running a business because he finds it fun but was also open differing ideas and is willing to fight back against shareholders. It really can't be stated how absolutely RARE a man like Yagoo is in his position.
