>>102705074Those ones are a bit skewed because a large chunk of Sony's catalog is Druckman or Druckman-esque games, and a large chunk of MS's catalog is some flavor of FPS. Even then, you could argue that's mostly them being fans of the genre, the type of Sony fan you're describing would enjoy a third person, open world cinematic game not made by Sony (e.g. Death Stranding) and the type of Xbox fan you describe would enjoy an FPS not made by MS (e.g. Call of Duty). The same can't really be said about Nintendo fans, it's not enough to be Scrimblo Blimblo, it specifically has to be Nintendo's Scrimblo Blimblo for them to like it.
Bringing it back to VTubers, I've never seen a fan of Phase Connect or Vallure, I've seen fans of menhera girlfailures and lewdtubers, and people who follow a lot of Phase Connect or Vallure talents because they both provide a large number of them; Their allegiance is to the type of chuuba, not their company. In that sense, Holo would truly be the Nintendo of Vtubing, it's not enough to be an idol, it has to be a Hololive idol for them to like it
>>102705845My point is: Most people aren't fans of a company, they're a fan of their products. Using Valve as an example, because it's the one I'm most familiar with, is there any reason you're a fan of Valve besides "They make fun FPS games that also can be modified to do goofy shenanigans" or "They make good hardware at a reasonable price"?
>>102706207In /vt/'s defense, there's different barriers to entry, making a game you can sell, even for a cheap price, takes a lot more than setting up a channel. This means that in a hidden gems thread, it's far more likely for chuubas to self-promo on /vt/ than for developers to self-promo on /v/
