I think I've found my problem.
I've been recording and streaming with a cardioid condenser mic, and I was completely sure it would perform better in a closed environment, so I tried to have my setup all near the walls, but that apparently makes it sound boxier since it still gets echo from the walls, despite them having soundproof foam.
Tried it in the middle of the room instead, where it would be more echoey in theory since now it should pick up every single wall echoing, but it somehow works better. I'm not even gonna question it anymore.

What started as a simple 1 minute voice recording is gonna culminate in me moving around every single item in my room today. Gotta love audio setups.

You would have to keep a pinned message with it for the whole stream, I don't think saying it every 5 minutes is gonna help people that just get in and immediately think it's a guy with a voice changer.
It really doesn't matter why you're using it in the eyes of the public. Some people will get it and some other will just not give you the time of the day. It's a risk you have to run if you really want to stick with the voice changer plan.
If you deem it completely necessary, go for it. It's gonna slow your growth, but if you feel like it will help you not get into another altercation like that (it might, but there's A LOT of ways a mentally unstable individual can use to doxx you in the end, you'd need to be as paranoid as them to keep up with the mask not slipping up for a single second), then go for it.
