Honestly sleep redirects also track with what has been happening to my indie oshis streams. She usually gets 100-200 ccv but on some specific game streams like Fallout her numbers shoot up to like 800-1000 ccv with no noticeable increase in viewer interaction. She thought this was weird so she looked into her analytics and for those streams with the ccv spikes like 80% of viewers came from autoplay compared to like 20-30% of viewers coming from autoplays for the streams with normal numbers.

Let's assume ennacuck is really behind the bots and not simply someone who latched onto it for his own purposes (never proven though I admit lines up with his previous intentions). It's entirely possible at some point the botting simply became an end in itself, he got bored with targeting specific people he had a grudge against and just decided to all out and ruin the horserace at a large scale. He may not even have fixed intentions beyond that at this point.
