Think about any large audio video system. It's not a standard TV that you send a single signal into. Most AV setups require video and audio to get split out to multiple different sources and play it at slightly different timings depending on how large the room is. Think surround sound setup for a home theater. The speaker system is not innately compatible with that wall system which is not innately compatible to the video mixer. There can be a ton of reasons why these issues happened but it's very likely it was the conventions setup not being properly routed and tested.

Just recently Holo did a Super Karaoke event at Boston, which had Bae and Fuwamoco in 3D and that was fully live with the only mishaps being 1-2 seconds of bad connection, and some iffiness with the karaoke lyric display. They weren't perfect with their lines and did call and response stuff to the crowd.
