It really depends on what you're shooting for, I think there's a mix of both in a lot of cards.
I've made cards based on characters but I like to stick to just making them of the characters for the most part.

Yes, and yes.
In the former case you just drop the json or image file (which is literally just the json but with a pretty picture to look at while you ̶f̶a̶p̶ engage in wholesome roleplay) into \SillyTavern\data\default-user\characters.

Unfortunately none of that works if you haven't completed Reverse Collapse on the hardest difficulty.

This is definitely true. I remember when there was some hyper-filtered version of Claude available in some proxies, and using prefill could bypass the filter but made it significantly more retarded.
But also DeepSeek feels pretty sloppy to me. I tested it with an android card that I have, and when I gave her a headpat it went out of its way to describe how bald and hairless she was (probably because the card said she had no body hair), even though I described her hair in the card and the greeting mentioned it moving when she tilted her head. It also refused to cook replies as long as Claude and kept fucking up the formatting with broken asterisks and whatnot, it honestly barely felt like an improvement over Turbo.

DeepSeek has very strange autism where it will randomly fixate on certain things. The 0528 update improved it in this regard but didn't eliminate it.
I managed to wrangle it into how I like it but I purely use it for cooming, so the easily-accessed degeneracy is more important to me than quality outputs.

I am pretty sure that the limit is based on your actual token limit you set for the system prompt. And you can set the percentage by yourself.
For example, if you limit the amount of token you sent to the provider to 10000 token then set the limit of the lorebook to 40%, it means that you set aside 40% of your token limit for the lorebook. In this example the total token for your lorebook entries can not exceed 4000 token. As far as I know, there is no token limit for each lorebook entries. So those 4000 token can be from a single entry or multiple entries adding up to 4000 tokens.
Also not all entries is sent, only entries whose keyword is activated will be sent. If the lorebook entries sent does not reach 4000, then the excess is used for the usual system prompt + chat history.

This is a recurring question. The answer is complicated and you'd have to read every privacy policy of every entity involved. OR doesn't log unless you allow it. Free providers are definitely logging your prompts. By default, paid providers don't log but there's so much variability in that regard. For instance some providers may log if they detect some sort of violation. It won't matter though as OR anonymizes every request. Lastly you can go the schizo route and assume everyone is logging every instance every time. Which isn't as crazy to think about given what we know about governments, corporations, and Jews.
