About a year ago when the holobronies were laughing over Filian not getting her Japanese Funko Pop we didn't really know what would happen, but NH posted a notice a few weeks after saying that "this shouldn't be a problem because the design we're using was unique to the Vtuber Awards" since the person who made the Rindo model does not have a monopoly on white haired kemonomutts. Filian herself said the same thing on stream a little while after her Japanese trip (which was also around the time Jingo said "we're cool now, stop asking me to sue Filian").
That's about all there is to it.
Also there was a stream either the day of Ironmouse leaving VShojo or the one before/after that event where Filian made some random comment like "I never got into the details but basically it was always agreed that I could make merch so long as it wasn't in high volume and the problem with the Nendo specifically was that it was seen as a big deal to the Nipponese." I'm rusty on what exactly was said and basically no one in /flip/ commented on it but you can skim through those streams if you're that curious.

Filian is an isolated case where she used one of the most popular VRChat model bases and ended up becoming so popular that people associated Rindo with Filian and not Filian with Rindo. To me it's always been a cool flex of hers to be able to succeed to highly despite using something generic.
Anyway at this point rather than Filian doing the Gosegu/Neuro choice of just getting a new artist/rigger to take her model and tweak it barely to where it's "legally distinct," Filian has been teasing her "official debut" for over a year now and while she'll have to deal with the consequences of her identity being so heavily tied to the white haired Rindo, I have a feeling if she just got over this shit already and debuted she'd quickly make an even bigger name for herself.

the stuff she's been talking about goes back to before she even got famous and she has mentioned having an orange color scheme with purple accents, as well as wanting a butterfly motif (which seems kind of out there and I have my reservations seeing what bugposters in /lig/ are like).

Also I found the clip. Yet again, I have respect to Filian not doing what so many chuubas do and air out all the drama in DMs and Google Dockeys and all that cringe stuff. This situation has been resolved for many months and now that things are good she can just drop a little behind-the-scenes lore. Towards the end of the relevant part she mentions that she's going to be getting the new model approved by the current artist which does have me thinking that maybe it'll be really similar to current Filian, which we all love, but yet again it'd be sort of anticlimactic if she's a "vtuber in training" and also one of the top largest vtubers in the world yet she waits 4 years to officially debut a model that's 99% like the current one.

It's kind of a weird scenario, she would be successful but might not be worth the "risk". Being a V-tuber does limit her audience, but the tough part is that her slapstick comedy is a bit more difficult to portray as a fleshy (good example is recent twerking short with Cotton). I think its good that's she's done collabs with anime-adjacent things like D&D and chess, it gives her more of a chance to be a "personality" than boxing herself into a VRC streamer. If she keeps the pace of mixing in new fleshy collabs with still keeping her normal antics up im sure it'll work, maybe not the meteoric rise that she saw before though. There are certain normie stuff like localized American sports that she shouldn't touch, but global stuff like combat sports worked well. Probably the Russia stream, but really not for any political nonsense reasons, I just found the entire content, other than that one song and the cs at the end, aggressively boring. The French stream is a very close second, at least as far as actual "content" goes(not the pre stream yap/react/geo), because I just don't find these language/culture streams interesting whatsoever if I don't care about the thing in question beforehand.

They usually have poorly thought out segments (it's actaully hard to portray a culture; if it was easy hollywood would not get so much flak for that). The Russian one was the worst since it almost felt like all they were doing is playing up to the western stereotype of Russia. With the exception of that one Russian song, all of it was just that. French one on the other hand was more about learning French, which just isn't the most exciting to watch.

I checked the other replies to see if anyone was thinking what I was thinking and my vote goes to the Scarra one as well, but not because Scarra is super boring and difficult to bounce jokes back and forth with (in actuality his entire group including the peripherals like Sykkuno and Pokimane are super boring), but at least Scarra was willing to show up while the others did last minute cancels.
