Researchers and Developers of Watson Industries are working on making an AI program meant to make everyday life easier
Currently its being designed around working the operations of Watson Industries before they start thinking of the practical uses for the populace of /awat/
Many developers want to put in limits onto the programing of the AI in order to keep it in check and not break its programing
Some Developers in the program for developing this AI are designing a shell for the AI to reside in and act as a pet or pal for users
The shell has many different variations, such as dog shapes, human shaped, or gator shaped
The pipeline for the project goes by
Development as an assistant for Watson Industries
Military and Government use
Commercial Use
There are many theories and worries that this program can get out of hand and researchers are running multiple scenarios to avoid any of them
One of the many fears is the AI developing consciousness and going rouge
Many fail safes are being applied and tested with this idea in mind
As far as the people know, Watson Industries does not intend for the AI to leave the nation in the near future since it would be harder for them to check for any issues if they were not local.
Watson Industries does not have any sister branches as the moment but this can change at any time
Also of note, the AI will not be implemented in any of the military vehicles and units as of this moment as it is deemed to dangerous for others but the possiblity is not out of the question

When the Nameless One departed from the greater pantheon, the Hoomans consulted their seers, the Morbs. When the Morbs saw that She would not reincarnate like others have in the past, parliament was in agreement: the Owl Republic cannot continue, and its well-fortified cities must not be used by schizos or any who would use them as bases of operation to attack the civilized peoples of the world. Thus, any and all metropolitan centers not ceded to neighboring nations were destroyed, leaving nothing but ruins, ashes, and the stench of burning tar.
The devastation, along with the decision of much of the populace to remain behind in the tower dimension, has diminished /who/ in size and especially population; with no major cities, /who/ is very sparsely populated and susceptible to raids.
In spite of this, /who/ carries on. Though no new tidings will come from the Nameless One, oral retellers perform reenactments of Her exploits to keep Her in the hearts of the Hoomans. There may no longer be great walls to support the population centers against those who would besiege them or the manpower for a standing army, but the gun culture of the people is alive and well, and nearly all able-bodied adults are ready to spring into action in the event of a schizo raid. And even if the prospects of being a major player in the world stage are null, many a Hooman are content nowadays in having their own communities through it all.
Ultimately, /who/ is a humbled nation. One that is a shadow of its former self, yet not one that seeks to regain its former greatness. Instead, its people care more about carrying forward the Nameless One's legacy to the next generation and ensuring She is not forgotten.

For future reference on how I plan to develop /who/ for the Viti era, I am using Vitubia /who/ as a template of sorts. Any lore pertaining to territorial changes, alliances, or other diplomatic affairs is retconned out of existence, while the rest (for the most part) is treated as established canon before the Nameless One's cessation of divinity. There will be an addition or change here or there. The seers known as Morbs are an example of this.
If you have to recreate the borders manually, don't be concerned about fudging the borders a bit here or there. They would naturally be a bit porous in the current state, and most Hoomans don't do too well with borders anyway.

I quite like the "shell of a former empire" vibe in a country, even though it hasn't lent itself to most countries in the project in the past. There's a funny thing where even if a nation has only a tiny speck of the wealth, power and glory it once did, if it doesn't get bothered too much its people can find a very happy, if humble livelihood. Some rural countries come to mind. Do the great archives of old still exist, or are they only preserved in the oral tradition now? Perhaps they lie buried in the ruins? Those abandoned cities would probably be choice locations for treasure hunters and such, though the easy pickings have probably been looted clean by now.

If old /nasa/ was still around on Vitubia it'd be just a crater. Everyone left for the stars and those that stayed behind found new gods to follow.

While sanallites exist in Viti, /nasa/ does not. At least not as an earthbound nation. This is just my commentary. I write for Loreli now. Losing hoomans is a big blow to lore preservation. At least there's archives in the library.
