Gentilemen, we've cracked the "Unicorn" code
Cute is defined as "attractive or pretty especially in a youthful or delicate way". This automatically disqualifies anyone you know is getting fucked on the regular. Thus openly taken chuubas lose both unicorns and "non parasocial" fans who watched them because they were cute.
In conclusion vtubers who rely on cuteness as a crutch cannot survive being having their relationships exposed, while more talented vtubers can still rely on being funny, entertaining, etc and partially recover.

Cute and sexy aren't mutually exclusive for a vtuber but they do have to mostly choose a character type. If their model is dressed like a stripper and they constantly act lewd they aren't going to be viewed as cute. Their fans will be horny coomers and their fan art will be highly sexual. That has nothing to do with relationship status but is related to behavior. Cute behavior is endearing but it's difficult and still requires the vtuber to deliver entertaining content. Sleazy coombait is easier for a vtuber which is the reason that Twitch needed modesty rules.
