The controversy surrounding Parable Entertainment, which manages Isegye Idol, and Woowakgood, the YouTuber who founded Isegye Idol, is intensifying.

It has recently come to light that he has been billed a massive amount of 6.5 billion KRW by the Korean Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) for allegedly distributing a significant number of copyrighted music works illegally through the fan-made game “WakjMax.”

In addition, it was revealed that the cover songs uploaded to the YouTube channels of Isegye Idol members were posted without obtaining proper authorization from the original copyright holders. As a result, Woowakgood's side abruptly deleted all the related videos themselves, which has sparked even more controversy.

I'll give her some points for owning it and coming back on the same account, even if I don't think it was wise and wouldn't trust anything she says now. It was almost heartwarming to see how unconditionally supporting her community was, and though she promises not to come back at the beginning of the video, by the end her community apparently convinced her otherwise. Not sure if that's a good thing, as she's going generate more negativity than she can handle. She did at least ditch her old Twitter and Youtube accounts, so maybe that'll help a bit as there'll be no one posting at her. No one needs Twitter in their lives, after all, let alone someone that fragile.

I think the idea is that Hype counts for more, if the channel's subcount is lower, with the intent of making up and comers more prominent, and there'll be a weekly leader board. Have yet to see how exactly this will be implemented, but it'd be rare indeed to see a good change come out of Youtube for once.

I also hear they are making the AI upscaling thing people have been complaining about, that you may have seen in some vtuber shorts, optional, but I don't have an official source on that, nor have I bothered creating a short to check.

While I think the method of upscaling should be an option, be it procedural, Lanzcos, or bilinear, as some upscaling methods to work better than others and there's no mathmatical method to tell you which will work best every time, SFAIK, I think this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion. For one, it isn't really generative "AI", it's just procedural pixel repetition with some object and material recognition built in. (Actual AI upscaling would eat far too much processing time per frame.) The machine isn't taking away anyone's job here, and the video compression, with its blocky blacks and blurry reds, and lag when the scene gets too complex, has a much larger impact on your final video than this does, lest you upload a video for ants. But it "looks" a bit like the dreaded "AI" boogieman plastic, so everyone has freaked out over two letters added by some tinfoil hats.
