Maria streams significantly more, dances better, sings well, and also plays shooters like Dokilen and Rosemi. She was literally perfect for the spot. And she's been applying for forever. Niji EN potentially could have avoided the February 2024 incident if they'd recruited Maria for Petra's spot instead. Instead of feeling isolated and alone, Dokilen could have had solidarity in a gamer-oriented wave of girls. Maria could have made more covers with Pomu and kept the idol aspect of things in check, and maybe Pomu wouldn't have left so early on. Their recruiters are idiots beyond compare.

She's only staying for the work part of her student/work visa. She went through a shitload of trouble a few years ago changing her student visa to a student/work visa.
I doubt she's interested in changing her student/work visa back into a student only visa, and then into a work visa while trying to get a job with her degree during the few months between when her schooling finishes and when her student visa expires due to her not being a student any more. At least by staying in Niji, she doesn't need to cancel the work part of her visa before getting the kind of job she's trying to get with her degree, even when the student part eventually expires.

Also the work part of her visa might specifically require that she be employed in the vtuber industry in some capacity, which would trap her in Niji for even longer. If that's the case, then leaving Niji for any reason would trigger a 90-day countdown in which she'd have to get a job with another vtuber agency or lose her visa, and Niji would almost certainly vigorously enforce the 180-day non-compete in her contract
