So Kanata had a stream recently where she kind of vented about how much the company has changed within the past 2 years, basically right after going public of course, and some of this stuff sounds demented. The fact that they aren't even allowed to talk to other talents anymore about stuff, and that they're basically forced to be isolated and not talk about their worries or issues is insane. No wonder so many Holos have left the past year, and only more are likely gonna leave as time goes on. And before anyone even tries to gaslight me, no I'm not a Nijisister or Phasefag. I've been watching Hololive since before EN was even a thing, so It's just sad as a long time fan to see such a close-knit company turn into just a typical soulless brand after going public. I get that in most companies it is standard to enforce/discourage specific kinds of talk among employees, but this kind of company is different where the girls only have each other to confide in. This only further creates divides and rivalries among them, because now they are pushed into only thinking about themselves rather than each other.

That's sort of the problem of being a popular group that do a lot of individual shit.
If one of them have a project that requires NDAs, they'd either have to get everyone else to sign them also, even though they have nothing to do with the project, or they have to keep it to the talent in question.
It would be nice if they could at least get it done so that the gen would sign together, so that even if the project is only related to one of them, they could at least still talk about it with their gen mates, but I doubt most of Holo's partners would be open to that.

It makes sense, because when a partner that Hololive is working with want an NDA in place, from their side there's no reason why they should want the one talent they're working with, to be able to talk to a bunch of people that are unrelated to the project, since that sort of defeats the point of an NDA.
Each talent is essentially their own division within the company. If Katana is doing a project, all work is related to her as an individual. Not Gen 4. Not HoloJP.
From a partner standpoint she, her manager, and some people at Cover, are the only people who'll need to know about the details, so they're the ones who signs the NDA.
It sucks, and I hope they'll be able to find some way to make it work better for the talents, but it does make sense.

But they'll have to be careful because for the girls who does do a lot of individual projects, the stress can become a negative factor, especially if they're not that close with their manager. Being able to discuss aspects of a project with other people is important, especially creative projects.

I hate being alarmist but this has become a disturbing trend that all but confirms that management doesn't understand the industry or is being pushed to manage girls in a certain way. Or at least some parts of the powers that be are ignorant to what makes Hololive, Hololive. You would think a veteran talent wouldn't need to go so far as to air out her frustrations in public but here we are again, deja vu. What recourse does the company have if she'd been more scathing that doesn't also damage the company's branding or goodwill? If Fubuki or another foundational member were to leave for whatever reason, would Hololive be able to maintain their market share?
I get that Cover is well within their rights to beef up their opsec, given the sheer volume of talent face/identity information is already in the public sphere (I think Anya is the only truly unknown), but talents being unable to speak with one another is alarming as fuck. It's like the company is trying to Niji-fy itself by creating sub-groups that rarely interact unless it's company-ordained events. As the joke known as "umisea" has shown us, Hololive is absolutely garbage at creating groups that have chemistry and a drive to succeed as part of that specific branding. Hololive management already knows this as far back as NePoLaBo, that the girls need to be comfortable with each other to actually create content naturally. What this corporatization has done is reduce these talents to NPC-like concepts/mascots instead of actual people. The questions that are asked in the investors meetings hammer home just how important it is to gatekeep where the money is coming from, who holds the reins, and how important it is to never lose your identity. There needs to be a purge or at least a re-emphasis of what the company stands for.

Funny you mention that, there's some instances where that has happened with kids acting in films above their age range and not being allowed to see it.
I'm sure there has been cases of this in regular work, I know some film actor mentioned it but I'm struggling to remember who it was.
He was having a frank discussion of his life in acting and how it is fiercely competitive, cliquey and people would nepohire out the ass.
And he would just take any and all roles coming his way as a younger actor, sometimes not even seeing his end result because he just didn't care, "just another role".
You also have the opposite end of that where you have actors that are top-tier at the work, but they actively hate acting because they got forced in to narrow roles. (always villains, always silly comedies, etc.)
Ironically I see vtubing ending up going down that route with sponsorship rot slowly penetrating the industry more and more.
Look at how many people you see whining about vtuber collabs with [insert company] whether it is food or gaming. That's both coming from vtuber fans and vtuber haters alike.

Looking at the bigger picture helps too - work experience in shit jobs can get you in to places that no certificate from a uni will.
A self-built portfolio of your skills will do that even more so. Certs are worthless next to them.

This is especially true in talent industries, which makes vtubing even more shitty with regards to the whole "hush hush" about identities because how the fuck do you add that to a reference?

Not all instances of vtubing are like that, but it is the majority of cases.
In cases like that you can only really give tell them to call up John Vtuber to ask for a reference if you make it past a certain stage.
