ERB is a good entertainer, but that's it.

The reason she's so popular for singing is that she did covers that appealed to fandoms in her pl that everyone has probably heard at some point. She sings like a b-grade cabaret performer, but she sang songs that weren't getting covers yet and/or pandered to a lot of communities that were desperate for content that sounded even a little bit good. and yeah, even communities that she was desperate to escape from for years afterwards.

fast forward, and now everyone thinks that her "belting" singing voice is good, when really it sounds like she's untrained, nasal, and straining her voice. the belting really does sound unnatural and forced and like she's not singing in the range or style that works for her.

Real issue is that she is not fitting in, just that. And not even culturally, that could be easily flipped into an advantage with proper character arc.
Issue is pretty much logistical in nature - Holo will provide you with limited pool of producers, most with backgrounds in electronic/pop-rock music, cause doujin circles, duh.
Fitting in her style of vocals into typical edm-y or pop-rocky song is a challenge doujin/b-grade anime composers/producers simply not ready for. And to make matter worse cover cannot afford to spend mad money for regular live band recordings that will properly highlight her strong sides with numbers she brings in.
Unless ERB somehow manages to secure extremely favorable label contract, she always gonna be an awkward child of HoloEn.

Multiple talents have been dissatisfied with Cover's connections within music industry, especially when it comes to mixing. I believe she has mentioned it, and even talked about looking at DM's. She's been fine separating them so far, so I don't imagine she'd have any problems with running it without them. It really is a question just what cover has her doing that she can't get around to other things, she always mentions recording and while she does seemingly have 3 unreleased covers in her playlist that still doesn't really explain it.

Suisei's cover of Phony is good, she's undeniably talented. The world is full of good singers but they do need production that stands out and matches them. Just singing well can only take you so far. ERB's cover with Mint was also good, it's not coincidental the cover is campy and dramatic and the whole vibe is more showy than serious.

Her timbre is clear and strong, unlike most holos who do cutesy/whiney or excessively breathy. The cacophony that comes out of Shiori's mouth is an example of bad timbre.

Her version sucked. It was like if your theater teacher came out and sang Stellar Stellar. The Risu one was pretty good, but she got mogged by Risu which is why you fags aren't shit posting with that song.
