Isn’t it strange...
After more than 7 years of Hololive doing their thing out in the open, no one’s managed to replicate that same magic?
What gives?

Well, they need a girl who gave a failing start-up an opportunity to change course and strike gold (hard), talents that can mingle well between each other (also hard, especially in the west), and find a way to tardwrangle them from committing multiple yabs.

The vtuber market is already oversaturated. It is next to impossible to do the same thing Sora has done.

non-hololive corporations like anykara and brave often want instant success, when success doesn't materialize they pull funding from their 'failed' projects. Hololive started with 17 viewers on sora's first stream and kept chugging along for years, building a viewerbase from scratch, yagoo continuing even with the early struggles and problems.

That same magic will never exist again my dude
hololive lucked out because everyone was stuck at home, they had a handful of clips get picked up in the algorithm, and there was a market of anime watchers fed up with the 10000th seasonal adaptation of a light novel isekai plot that were desperate for something fresh to latch on to
Those people have all moved on and latched on to the next thing that caught their attention which is why you barely see any english people typing in the hololive JP member streams and comment sections nowadays, because the only people who stuck around either did their reps or see no point trying to write a message to someone who can't understand a lick of english

I still remember vtuber fans even outside of 4chan doomposted about the end of vtubing when hololive EN were announced. Because holoEN will normalize english speaking vtubers.

What are you even talking about? The problem with niji is that they DIDN'T apply japanese standards to the EN branch, they let them do whatever the fuck they wanted with no higher oversight or supervision which is why it devolved into such a shitshow and why nijiENs are allowed to post political woke bullshit all the time without getting slapped by management. They literally let the clowns run the circus.

Man, you really didn't pay attention to NijiEN or JP, did you?
For one, that's how they run the JP branch too.
For two, the management only seemed to exist to demoralize the talents and brainwash them into being easily manipulated, to the point where many of them genuinely think they didn't deserve their own youtube subscriber rewards.

Particulars of being located in Japan, the one competitor who could challenge them is busy extracting pennies from their talents, economies of scale. They have a pretty solid moat
Anonymous No.103857852 [Report] >>103857870
>>103857747
They need to be more diverse with their hiring to fill more niches, and they need to actually interact with the outside world more often via events, collabs, whatever. The goal needs to be to convert outside fans into holofans. Fauna was basically a fleshie with an avatar, and as such she brought a very large chunk of people into the community who were there because they liked that. Same with Gura.
If the vtuber community isn't big enough to pull more people from, then they need to grow the community by targeting new niches and audiences.

Change is usually what kills things. The reason why Japan has had so many game franchises that have lasted for 20+ years is because they get so set in their ways. The worst thing you can do is push away the core of your support

>Change is usually what kills things.
sure, but in this case the thing is already dying slowly.
Obviously Holo itself will be fine for a while, especially JP(Just look at Niji hobbling along despite being long past its prime, and Holo's nowhere near that bad yet), but the way it's going now will just result in even more graduations with more chunks getting chipped away by the alums. They're just not getting new viewers with the way they've been doing things.

The average western whore is selfish.
Most corpos try to apply Japanese corpo logic to a society of women who would kill themselves if faced with a week of a Japanese salaryman lifestyle.
They inevitably implode or cannibalize themselves as those women realize they can simply fuck over the corpo shackling them and keep all the money for themselves. Hololive (EN) is only barely keeping it together with their strict filtering.
Phase Connect is the only one doing it right so far in the west.

It doesn't necessarily have to be only one girl but the goal is to have solid foundation and culture, also generally easier with more people to share the burden, in fact it's very risky to have one person to hold that much power, they are very lucky Sora is genuinely good person borderline a saint.

As much as people hate them, Vtubing was more interesting between 2021-2023 because NijiEN was a feasible rival at that point, and everyone was excited ro choose a side. The EN sphere being dominated by one side is boring, especially if you find generations like Justice boring. Advent is more interesting because Hololive was actively competing against other/bigger companies, same with Council competing against Lazulight. Nijisanji and Hololive are still competitors in Japan, but to knock out all of your competitors completely makes the industry really boring. There are always rivalries: in sports, WWE, anime/manga industry, etc.
