Since I can't post pictures in the middle of the text and seeing the pictures that illustrate each point is important, I'll try and add the pictures in the order they appear and describe the corresponding picture in square brackets [like this]. I will also need to continue this thread in the replies since it is too long and has too many pictures.
I'm not writing this post because I dislike Neuro-sama or Vedal. I love their content, but I just felt like this needed to be said.

I’ll preface this with when factoring in inflation since the time they were bought, all the turtle plushies I used for these examples are a bit below the price point of the Vedal plush. The bird is more expensive, the dragon is cheaper, and the pig is too old for me to have any idea. (The checkout says duties are added on to the shipping price, so the plushies $30 price point on the site should be unburdened by tariffs.)
The other plushies aside from the pig and dragon big are also considerably larger than Vedal so, there’s that.

As someone whose favorite animal has always been turtle since childhood, and received tons of plushies, I’ve had a lot of turtle plushies over the years. Sadly for our comparison, I don’t have most of them anymore but I think I can still say
The Vedal plush isn’t a great plush in my opinion.

There are two big things that turn me off from the Vedal plush the way his shell comes together, and even more the stitching on his head.

the pattern of the shell meets itself in weird ways at the seam. It is symmetrical, but it’s not any sort of consistent. This is NOT done so that the sides of his shell perfectly mirror the way his mostly sideways facing model looks, considering it’s not a perfect match.
It just looks sloppy.

In the Vedal plush’s defense, nearly every turtle stuffed animal I had that had a similar sort of hexagonal shell pattern had weird looking parts of their shell, though Vedal’s is particularly egregious.
What really kills it is that the stitching looks terrible, most noticeably on the head. It’s super prominent all around his entire head and it’s just a lot to ignore.

The Vedal plush is at a disadvantage to a lot of other turtle plushies in that the head needs to be very round, so it’s locked out of the approach that many other turtles take which is to make a slightly more realistic turtle with a flatter head at the bottom.


EXCEPT for the fact that Vedal’s model's head isn’t entirely round, it does flatten a bit at the bottom, and that his plushy isn’t made to be 100% faithful to his model above all else.

(case and point, if total accuracy was the goal, then we would have wanted the edge of his shell to be more like this guy to match Vedal’s wavy flaps)


I used to have turtles with rounder heads and better stitching style, but I no longer have them.

Still, I’ll concede it is very round and I would guess they have a priority of keeping the stitches away from Vedal’s face. You might be able to do better, but it probably would be very hard to get a panel style that is both satisfactory round and away from his face.

However, I think they should have considered a different material. You can have a material that hides the stitching much better and still has the fur look short like the Vedal plush.


I don’t have a professional camera and lighting, but you’ll have to trust me that the seam on the pig is quite subtle.


The color change on this dragon doesn’t do it any favors, but the seam itself isn’t very visible.

I think to complete the thought I need to show this: a plush with a very round head and very good seams


The hair is long, but I hope you can trust me when I tell you the only seam on the head I have ever found is one that comes up to the beak and the connection around the beak


Now to be fair, this plushy has much longer fur, the beak gives the opportunity to break up the paneling, and frankly it’s a very nice plushy, made of better material then the Vedal plush. It’s not a very comparable plush, but I thought I should at least show a round head I think looks good, and this is the only one I still own.

Overall, I want to like the Vedal plush. It is cute if you can bring yourself to ignore the seams, and maybe I’ll warm up to it. But it’s worse than other turtle stuffed animals that are sold at the same price point.

I don’t get why people make such a big deal out of it now that someone big like Ellie talked about it. Not to sound rude but it seems like due to her action a new mass "opinion" dropped, like cant people think for themselves wether its morally correct or not? Seems like larping to me.

Anyways Its not that shes wrong but im quite sure she build her opinion in a whim and based on little information. The girls arent creepy about it or take it too serious. Vedal is a famous content creator, it’s normal that people simp over famous people and the famous people themselves are very much aware of that. Especially Vtuber have to deal with a big ammount of people thirsting over them, and while some encourge it and some don’t, every person in the buisness is a grown adult who is aware it will happen to some extend and can take meassures themselves if it bothers them.

The whole backtuber stuff is just a joke (just like the femboy joke) that brings tons of clips. Clip farming is part of the job of a content creator and his biggest tool to grow in size. If anything i personally would even go as far as to say i belive Vedal‘s content brain appreciates the backtuber stuff due to the clipfarming. Its like a gold mine from a buisness perspective.

Lets say the backtuber didnt say anything about wether they want to burry the meme or not, If we as the audience took matter into our own hands and stop with a joke like backtubing then where are we gonna stop? No more Femboy jokes? No more Gigachad jokes? No more shipping? No more jokes at all? You see what im trying to say? And to the male population of this sub reading this, would you rather be known as the bottom femboy with programmer socks or the guy who has a nice back that got girls simping over it? I really think it’s not that deep.

Ive also seen comments that said Vedal was visibliy uncomfortable when Cotton showed him the back stuff but is that neccesary a bad thing? When im out with Family I sometimes get compliments by them on my appearance and it also makes me flustered and uncomfortable, so I don’t know what to say but on the inside i appreciate it and it makes me happy and i bet some of yall had simmilar experiences.

Some people in the swarm just love to go straight up into a frenzy whenever even the tiniest bit of borderline drama comes up and the doom posts start (Max Wayne situation, Anny even called the people saying it’s because of shipping out by calling them stupid but that couldnt stop them ). Im personally a big fan of the back meme and i respect Aquwa saying she wants to stop it but It just pisses me off that she very clearly didnt do that on her own accord but because those "some people in the swarm" i talked about pressured her with their doom comments, wich will lead to the other backtuber being pressured aswell (Proof is that Aquwa even got pressured into apologizing for… for what exactly???). But the saddest thing about this whole situation is that those people arent the "worst" in this case.

Ive seen YouTube comments hating on Ellie, the "Backtuber", clipper and even artists because of the back stuff now. Hating on them because of this tiny inconvenicence… If you are one of them please stop. Don’t hate on Ellie just because her opinion about the Backtuber meme. Im also a little salty they "took" this meme from us but not towards Ellie but towards those doom poster. Ellie‘s opinion wasnt negative or hatefull towards any creator or audience at all. Because of the hate Ellie recieved some people started hating on the backtuber, why are "wars" like this necessary? Why do you have to fight fire with fire? Clippers are literally just doing their job and help their content creator grow and i don’t think I have to talk about people hating on the artists, thats just weird.

In conclusion: Those parts of the audience i was talking about caused way bigger damage then the Backtuber meme ever did ! How surprising! Not only did many people recieve hate, clippers and artists have to watch out wich content they produce wich will be bad for their own buisness and growth and put them in an inner conflict but also the community is once again even more split now Continue like this and a few inconveniences in the future we will have actual reasons to doom post
