There have been a lot of rrats and theories thrown around since the LLD, and as usual many of these have been absolutely moronic.
So let’s set the record straight in regards to Mrs. Mimi Nightmare’s little lore drop.

The first major question most people have had is “why?”
Obviously it was unnecessary to say anything about her marriage at all, and will ultimately destroy her viewership and revenue. We are already starting to see this. So, why?
Nimi is too intelligent and too stable to have simply done it for 48 hours of virtue signalers on Twitter giving her fake congratulations. And she is not prone enough to women moments to destroy her own career just to own le incels and unicorns. So from this we can tell she must have an actual reason of some sort.

I have seen 2 rrats that seem to be realistic and possible, with one more likely than the other.
The less likely one is that she had heard a rumor, possibly from a trusted source, that her marital status was going to be leaked and that she wanted to get ahead of it.
While this is possible, I still have a hard time seeing her tank her own career over a rumor, and even if it was leaked she could have simply ignored it and kept a plausible deniability. This still is an actual possibly, but I think it is the less likely of the two reasons.

The second possibility is that her husband, in addition to demanding that the multiple month trips to Japan stop, also make her relationship to him known as part of their continuing relationship and marriage. Probably due to insecurity and jealously of having other men chatting with and hitting on his girlfriend.
Of course, this would be absolutely bullshit on his part, but we all know this kind of insecurity is actually extremely common. And so she probably knew she was going to make this statement at some point even before leaving Hololive.
If this is the case I honestly hope she gets a prenuptial agreement, because with that level of insecurity that marriage is going to last 2-3 years maximum. And as a multimillionaire she will be the one paying him in the divorce settlement.

In short, it almost certainly wasn’t for virtue signaling or a woman moment. And it most likely was something her fiancé demanded of her out of insecurity.

We know it's reason number 2.

If it was reason 1 she would have lore dropped as lemon leaf.
Also, we know her new bf is insecure because he told her to stop doing ASMR.

I lean towards the "she thought someone was gonna leak it" rrat heavily. I think the lore drop was literally within 24 hours of the same day we heard from that JAV star that a now-ex-vshojo employee was waving around really sensitive info to randos, what a coincidence. In this case she would have wanted to jump out ahead of being blackmailed over it. With vshojo dead he could well have dropped nuclear dox if he felt like.

To chase that idea further however, why would Nimi be certain this guy from vshojo knew, if that info is at all recent? Unless she has been engaged for years already that is recent, so why would he know when he left Cover a year+ ago? My rrat of the rrat is Nimi was talking with Vshojo behind the scenes recently and they were trying to recruit her (because apparently, they went after basically everyone). It would make sense one rof he first outreaches from Vshojo to an ex cover employee would be someone Nimi might have already recognized from Cover to break the ice and ease her into the idea it's a sensible next step, etc. If she was already far into interviews or had already been onboarding (similar to how Mint was a secret member for a while) the question of her relationship status probably came up. They would want to know what is real or not with in order to know what to protect or litigate against, because slander in the US depends on if the allegation is actually real or not. So that would piece together what happened. Maybe. It is just speculation if course but makes the most sense to me.

Given that everyone else who Nimi knew and has commented on this situation said that they didn't know, it seems Nimi was holding this close to the chest and not going around bragging about it. This heavily looks like she was not intending to discuss it if even Dooby had absolutely no idea (which is what she claims IIRC). Weird shit all around but the "vshojo fallout scared her into divulging it to try to get ahead of a nuke" makes actual sense as the explanation. I'm not excusing her for doing it, just trying to figure out why she did.

Also to samefag there is a third explanation option, she thought that the vshojo blowup would basically bury this story quickly and people would hardly notice. That turned out woefully incorrect but sounds kind of stupid because it's news that permanently alters her fandom/channel being held against news that had nothing at all to do with her or ex-holos or Holo fans (that we know of). But it is possible no less. Just seems kind of stupid.

If she wanted to "get ahead" of the potential marriage leak, wouldn't she also want to "get ahead" of the potential joining-Vshojo leak? Wouldn't make sense for her to only care about one but not the other. That and the Kiara thing is why I'm thinking she wasn't joining Vshojo, but instead has actually been married for a while and was worried about the ex-Cover employee dropping doxx.

The Kiara thing could just be coincidence frankly but it is possible she knew about this dude fauna at the time was with and they had been talking about marriage, but did not actually tie the knot yet so she was teasing about it.

As for why there was no word on if she was a secret vshojo or not, maybe she was not officially one yet but was already taking. We know they were making an idol group just for Mint and it seems Nimi was not in this. But if there was to be another idol unit down the line they probably would have assembled one for Nimi and whatever friends she wanted to bring along. Would make sense as a like a 2-year battle plan vshojo had since they still had not even gotten Mint's thing out the door.
