Considering that Delta is the franchise's first major release since Survive, it makes sense to play it safe. There have been some entries where he was way more hands off like Ghost Babel, AC!D and Portable Ops, but now they just want to prove to people that they can still touch up an older project of his and still do a solid enough job. Plus they were probably scared of going further than adding a new Guy Salvage minigame or Fox Hunt because of how much shit Silent Hill 2 Remake got during its pre-release stage, even though that ended up being a nice complement to the OG game.

SH2 Remake was nowhere near as bad as you're stating it as. It had leagues better bosses than the original, and the new interactions with James and Maria were great. Not perfect, Angela's VA was the only one I felt was a clear downgrade and it sucks to have less NG+ weapons too. But it was surprisingly well done considering how outside of Shattered Memories, every post SH4 game was mediocre and forgettable.

I don't like the remake but it's perfectly understandable for Mint to not want to have her chat derail into an argument. Do you not get that?

That plays into another reason why publishers love remakes now more than they ever did back then, they're a great way to train employees. AAA games take forever to make now, there's no longer enough room to make mistakes due to their higher costs of development and employee count. Remaking a classic is a good enough way of giving them experience.

Remember qhen Squid Games was a big thing? Now they moved on. When people talk about shit with big cultural impacts, things that are still referenced and lasted the test of time. It's old shit. Before you had constant streams of media poured into your eyes, you had more time with X, so you appreciated it more, got more familiar with it, etc.

E.g. Anime was less available, I STILL remember Dokurochan despite it being shite. I can't remember anything recent for anime. Maybe it due to isekai but even though Dokuro was shit and I would never wathc it now, limited options meant it was Naruto, Bleach, Claymore and Dokuro Chan.

Compare the big FPS games. Now compare that to Halo. Books, woemn loving their smut. Haven't seen a rabid fandom since Twilight and nothing near Harry Potter. Nothing modern lasts.

That's because MGS2 ran at 60fps, it ran wonderfully. They downgraded it to 30 and went with bigger maps and more complex mechanics compared to it.
But it hit its target more often than not. MGS Delta on a PS5 Pro does not hit its 60fps target at all. There's not even an option to lock it to 30, so they actually do consider constant drops to the 30s to be acceptable for a 60fps game.

I bought the original for ps2 in 2022 and finished it last year. Its perfect, I dont understand remakes and I dont get remaking 3 and not one of the older MSX or PSP games.

It did run perfectly. Thd only ps2 game I had run poorly was Armored Core Silent Line during the Lawdass mission and Eureka 7 New Vision during the 2nd to last mission.

Snake Eater is more widely known. Likely a lot of younger people have heard of it but not played it and older people have nostalgia for it. It will be more profitable than one of the games that would benefit more from a remake likely would.
