Change my mind
The reason why people like corpo vtubers more than indie vtubers is because of the perceived bargaining power the collective audience has over the corpo. The bigger ones especially. Everything else is preference.

people like corpo vtubers more than indies because sifting through 500 indies to find one you like is annoying and time consuming.
If you go for a corpo you have a general idea of the kind of vibe and quality of their hires, and if you don't actually give enough of a shit to like any of them, you can watch whoever's online like some kind of tv broadcast.

Agencies are curators of talent

This, corpos are people who presumably went through some kind of quality control process and you can trust are entertaining and looking to stick around doing this as their job.

Group dynamics also come in pre-baked and then you have groups of groups interacting which reaches a meta indies often don't attain. Indies might build up a couple friends over time but not as much of repoire. Collabs are seen as more transactional, people on twitch openly use each just to leech and so on.

I like the corpo vtuber because I like the vtuber. If and/or when she becomes an indie vtuber, then I like an indie vtuber. Corpo drones can all go hang.

obviously, good corpos do quality control and training for thier talents with thier collective experience. but what im (OP) saying is that most corpos either don't do this (Nijisanji, nexas), or can't do this (Vshojo, PC) yet still get most of the attention from online discourse.

Meet and greets take away valuable streaming time on the weekends when more people can watch their oshi. It's a product of idol culture which does not exist in western vtubing. A bunch of men queuing up four hours to talk to a vtuber who is just sitting at home is incredibly pathetic.

>he thinks indie collabs are the transactional one
KEKAROO. Merch was released for this recently by the way.

although I think this is honest, what made you feel like you had an attachment to that vtuber in the first place? It's the corpo. sure there are some vtubers who go from indie to corpo, but it feels different dosent it? thats because they powerdynamic shifts from indie to corpo.

its fan service though, when are you ever going to have a one on one conversation with them while you are online.unless you watch a super super small person and are the only chatter

this is also why "hako" or "audiences" get created with corpos, its that sense of expectation. and all those "industry standards" where do you think the corpo gets it? from the viewers and thier viewing power, not because the corpo itself is "blessed with knowledge"

Group dynamics play a greater part then most people realize. Corpo vtubers comes with friends and side characters at the start. And with them being knitted together in the corpo's image can't really air out dirty laundry about each other or they'll ruin themselves and the corpo. And the more talents under the corpo the harder it is for a talent to justify sinking the whole ship and everyone in it just to get at one person. The only time this dynamic failed is in Niji, but only because there was multiple people after one person, even if said one person did fuck up.

>sifting through 500 indies to find one you like
As opposed to sifting through 500 corpos

Let's just stop pretending
This conversation is never about corpos
It's about Hololive specifically
>and if you don't actually give enough of a shit to like any of them, you can watch whoever's online like some kind of tv broadcast.
So you watch streamers you don't even like... just because they're in the same company?

Indie cucks think they love freedom when they're just the indie's cashcow
Generally corpo vtubers create more contents and achieve more than indie vtubers

this is true, group dynamics drive fan interaction which then drives fan interaction on other platforms which then drives a greater sense of community which then drives a greater bargaining power
>>103915952
Lets talk about hololive then:
they are certainly an example of a company that does audience feedback well. yes, people do watch others from holo they dont actively watch when they have free time due to tools built by the community and hololive itself to facilitate this. think hololyzer, holodex, and the schedule page on hololives website

Holodrones have a really insane imagination of what watching indies or other corpos is like. Don't mind them. They need to make up an apocalpytic fantasy outside of their precious garden to justify the stale bread slop they get.

So are activity schedules restructuring to allow for holomems to stream more? Oh wait, it's getting worse. Even Kaela of all people is falling off.

proves the point even more, the difference in content between indie and corpo is not much. but because the audience feels like it has power over the corpo at least, it's more desirable.

Well I should hope so, they are literally production companies as opposed to indies who are literally one person

Anon that's literally the point of the corpo.
If they aren't creating more content and achieving more, then there's zero reason to work for them. Just look at Niji. That place doesn't give jack shit to its talents, so they left.
