No, "Live2D" is still 3D geometry, it's just rendered with an orthographic camera, you're just stuck with Cubism's setup which works smooth if you do exactly what it expects and shits the bed if you want to do anything outside of it which is not uncommon for vtubers (because they require more complex rigging than, say, a Nikke character). Add on additional wants like the better but more annoying tracking data from V-bridger (an external app that streams better iphone tracking to Vtube Studio) and you are in for a major headache. There are harder aspects for traditional 3d, yes, but they are substantially reusable. I have so many basic outfit templates in CLO, so many existing materials, retargetable humanoid rigs, and also the ability to actually rely on standard physics engines because the geometry is an actual closed loop and not the crazy topology of an insane paper doll
