I think that female-orientated spaces and communities also has an issue with over self-policing. There is an obsession with harmony and people actively seek out ways to police others who they could interpret as acting unharmoniously. Male-dominated spaces don't have this issue because men are naturally more confrontational and rather than conforming to community criticism they willingly eject themselves. Comes with it's own issues but men are more likely to be lone wolfs in their hobby allowing them to do whatever they want rather than females fans who value being a part of communities which ultimately suppresses their own extroversion in favour of harmony and participation. I've noticed this myself and it's precisely why I stopped giving a fuck what others think. It's also because I've gotten older, and I realized it's my life, I only get one, so I'm going to spend it enjoying and doing what I want and not living for complete strangers. Once you stop caring so much about what others think of you, you will feel so free. It's a difficult habit to break though, since women are naturally empathetic and like you said value community. It's good and correct observation. I've also noticed there will always be people that come and go. Yeah, I've learned a bit more about algorithms since Zanny talked about it before. YouTube might be a different platform but it's still the same learning machine system. You've gotta tell it what to do if you want it to give you what you want. Most women don't use names because they may not want the vtuber to see their post. And that's not helped by the fact that the boys themselves openly say they ego search and "stalk". Women don't like being told they cause trouble, so even if it's the vtuber's fault for looking in the first place, she'll still feel blamed either by him or the community if he sees something he doesn't like or is uncomfortable with. But that's another thing I stopped caring about a long time ago; I made my twitter before vtubers were even thought of. I made it for me, so if he comes across a post he doesn't like while scrolling through my profile, that's not my fault. As an artist I can say why that happens sometimes and it could be any number of reasons. I don't know about JP artists, but it could be that we may not know what counts as NSFW or not. Say we draw a guy shirtless, that's not normally NSFW because male toplessness isn't usually sexualized. However, depending on how it's presented, it can be. Or worse, someone interprets it as sexy even if you, the artist, don't intend for it to be. Since male vtubers are smaller in audience size, they tend to do little talks or statements addressing random things. No one wants to be the center of that talk, so that's why when you look at a guy's NSFW tag, it's mostly tame shirtless pictures and no penis because it's better to be safe than sorry. Speaking of penis, most women are REALLY Shu about drawing one. That's why they're always hidden or out behind poipiku. And that's why there's a blank space where one should be in a lot of yaoi manga. Sometimes artists post WIPs but since they're not complete, they don't want to spam the tags. And sometimes artists just like to draw the character without having to worry about tags. There could be lots of other reasons, but those are the ones I know of.
