It’s like every small company trying to go for the normie or other audience because they aready have their core that won’t let them fail. There's no way to induce another incline. When you watch a vtuber you are no longer getting this new niche of kayfabe anime girl playing video games or whatever content they choose to make. Now you basically just get someone using an avatar and letting everything about the person behind it seep through. Most let the degree of separation between them and their chat/fans get too thin too, it becomes less about commentary about whatever the content is, and more about whatever girl nonsense they're up to. It used to be an escape, but it just circled back to what it strove to set itself apart from.

This is honestly for the better. The best vtubers at maintaining the "act" are Fuwamoco by a long shot, and watching them feels like watching Youtube Kids content. A good vtuber just needs to be sure if they're telling a story about their IRL life for example, that they're actually good enough with their delivery to make it funny/entertaining to listen to.

Honestly, I have no idea. I'm just spitballing at this point because I'm bored and like thinking about these things, but I genuinely don't know what the ideal situation looks like outside of streamers with avatars who put out regular music/events/etc.

Not dying in Japan, but it is dying in the west. People watched because they used to steam a pretty good amount, The average streaming time of EN talents has dropped year over year even when cutting out some of the underperformers like Mumei and Gura, and while some of the western audience does like idol stuff or at least enjoys in in the context of their favorite streamer, the casual fans are just uninterested in it and it eats into FAR too much stream time for a majority of the talents.
I really enjoyed year one of FWMC, even through the move, because for the most part their content was

actually, i'm reminded of kiara interviewing gura, and have always been wondering, what if there was a "talkshow" type of vtuber, like filian, who always colabs with other vtubers, regardless of their status.
but not just talkshow, but something like SNL skits and so on.

obviously, most of it would need to be scripted, but if they have good writers and if the talent can adlib, maybe they can pull it off.
they might need to upgrade their hardware for fullbody 3d tracking though.

Its streaming as a whole in decline, not just vtubers. The market is oversaturated while at the same time platforms are moving away from focusing on individual and small companies and are catering more and more towards bigger corporations to increase their profit. One of the reasons they keep becoming more and more restrictive with content is to make the platform "safe" for advertisers and bigger corporate channels to attract more of them. Basically platforms like youtube are pivoting to become more like cable tv.

its not that hard, it just takes a little bit of dedication and experimentation.
the first few episodes would probably be very amateurish, but get better with time.

People are talking about a disinterest in vtubers without actually realizing that it's because YouTube as a whole is actively working against content creators. Several people I watch who both stream and don't stream have mentioned that the algorithm just isn't pushing their videos out anymore. They're lucky if fans receive notifications from them when they upload and their viewership has been cut in half.
Generally speaking, it's not a problem with the content creators or the content itself but a problem with YouTube as a whole.

By the 1 year mark they really needed an Advent type of gen to debut. But instead they got the homos, and even worse, they tried to tear down The Wall and turn HoloEN into Nijisanji.

Things were so grim that I ended up leaving for smaller corpos until Advent debuted. Aside from watching some HoloJP mems of course.
The fans had to fight management, Twitter tourists, and even the talents themselves to keep HoloEN from degrading into Niji Vox slop. Luckily, in the end, Holochads won.
But not before spamming a 2nd homo gen when fans were BEGGING for an EN3. There was an equal amount of girls and homos before EN3 would be released.
