If this is true, then it affects everyone and it doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things. All it does is lower the universal ccv so what's the problem?

Why don't the girls with a normal 300-500 CCV have less CCV then? They're the same as usual.

I think most vtubers welcome the engagement no matter the quality because it shows their viewers are more commited and it increases their exposition as twitch algorithm will count chatters as more valuable

Second, not "all Phase girls" lost viewership. That change only occurred in the US, so if any, only the girls based in the US lost viewers.

And third, the only affected ones were she and Pippa, since they had the most children and bots in chat. Uruka, Lumi, Ruine, are largely unaffected, the rest I dont know because they dont fucking stream.

Did we actually need a confirmation? I'm not a numberchimp that obsess over graphs and data and even I noticed that some of the (non-phase) girls I watch have their CCV and views almost halved since mid August while chat speed, comments and likes are mostly normal.
I guess that one can argue that they all lost half of their fanbases almost overnight, but allow me to be a bit skeptical about it.

IIRC, a few days ago Mint did a raid with noticeably more people than the CCV she ended the stream with. YouTube is definitely up to something

I mean they don't get paid per viewer on ccv, but vod views cumulatively add up and it does matter if suddenly vod views also crashed because way fewer people ever saw it to begin with. I forgot the general estimation but it's like 100k views = 1k usd as an average rubric (but this will vary a lot).

so if they were reliably clocking like 10k views per stream for some rando small corpo or high 3view/low4view that's like $100 a stream just to exist (and before cuts and taxes). hence between streaming a lot, memberships and SCs a 3view could get by in most places. wouldn't be striking it rich probably but would be getting by. if vod views were like a third or half their revenue then those getting smashed in half is a big hit for them.

as was said for large corpo aka just holos where they can easily have like 30 or 50k vod views off the bat, it's already so much that the vod income can be slashed and still not put them into a bad spot because it's cutting what was already way-way more than enough into still more than enough.

Money is money, so I don't think anyone is happy about losing revenue. But at the end of the day, given how unreliable VODs are as a revenue stream, I don't think many people are absolutely desperate about lower view counts. Especially if other metrics such as subscriptions and super chats are largely unaffected.
IMHO there are two different issues stemming from this cull. The first is the impact on the algorithm: small creators may be recommended less and find it even harder to get themselves noticed, and in general there may be fewer potential new fans coming in at any given time. The other, potentially even worse, is that sponsors may pay less or even ignore certain VTubers with lower numbers than usual. And sponsors, unlike ads, bring in real money.

Two explanation.
1. Phase has been view botting and YT cracked down on it so all their numbers are reflecting that.
2. It's the age verification system YT implemented in a direct response to conservative American states all passing age verification laws and it's affecting Phase like Shina says.
Either option is not a good look given Phase panders to the group that voted for age verification laws, so they have to deal with this and having to block shipping to the US.

Nothing is a critical blow yet, but it's not helpful either.
