Holy shit, I have been waiting to do this for so long now that I have another DND session later today so if thread survives then DOUBLE DND UPDATE!

Quick note is that we got 2 new players but the dumbass barbarian and the warlock wasnt there so instead the party was a fighter, the sorcerer, and 3 FUCKING ROGUES!

One of the new players was this extremely shy chick who came in with her dad that I felt the immediate need to PROTECT AT ALL COSTS. Funny enough wanted to play the third rogue thief. The other one was a dude who I personally despise since he chased away the last girl that wanted to play about a year ago and is overall one of those weird autistic guys, even more than myself. Sadly the contract states that I have to let him play unless he does something stupid so I will be keeping a close eye on the fucker. I personally insisted very hard that I sit between him and the shy girl for obvious reasons.

Ok enough about that time for the actual recap.

>The shy girl just says "screw this i run past all of them" and actually somehow just ignores everyone and sprints full speed for a window
>everyone else sees this and decide to try the same shit
>NO YOU FUCKING DONT BITCHES as one of the guards casts tidal wave and knocks everyone on their asses
>eventually most of the prisoners get up and flee but cant make it past the main door and they cant rip the steel bars out of the windows so all NPC's are killed and the rest of the party surrenders
>Assassin INSISTS that they all come with him and the captain of the whole base is like "yep fine with me"

And thats pretty much what happened, i want to end this whole prison encounter this session and get the new players involved with the rest of the map. I stated before I wanted to put /vnug/ there and I asked for suggestions on where to put it with my suggestion of putting it where /towa/ is. And of course if anyone has ideas then tell me.

I've been mulling over my country's technology and more advanced inventions. Most of it could likely be recreated through mundane means, but I think there should be some things that for one reason or another just don't work anymore
Potentially, multiple questions arise from this. If magic was used in technology but a specific goddess's magic used for it went away, could another goddess's magic take its place? ("Would /who/-patented telegraphs function properly if the Nameless Element was replaced by Essence of Doob?" for example) I didn't find anything concrete looking through the Viti lore doc though I admit the mechanics may be carried over from Vitubia and the answer may be there somewhere. If there is nothing concrete, I intend to take the position that magic from one goddess is magic AA and magic from a separate goddess is magic AB, and although the core function is the same the specifics don't allow for replacing one goddess's magic with another's in the same inventions and receiving the same result.
That being said, the concept or hope of another goddess's magic being a usable substitute could lead to some intriguing lore prospects: Would Hoomans sell technology they couldn't recreate through mundane means to other nations, and would laws in /who/ be put in place to prevent that from happening in the hopes of reincarnation/pink apotheosis/a non-magical breakthrough? If substitution is possible, the aforementioned hope of a pink apotheosis could be a technology-based reason for underground cults devoted to the Pink Angel and/or the One Who Was Here Before instead of a purely theological one. That being said, I can make the cults make sense in the setting without that detail if it doesn't line up with the laws of the land.
I have a draft that talks about a few local wildlife species, but I've been putting off writing anything concrete about big picture stuff and it's likely more important to document stuff like the general technology level, the current state of the libraries and archives, and general lifestyle information about Hoomans in general before I distract myself any more with zoology or cryptids.

Assassin escorting the other party members is a nice way to bring the new players and the two who couldn't make the previous session together, as it could be generally agreed by the group as a whole that the Assassin would give the newbies a quick rundown on who the Barbarian and Warlock are on the way to them. I like it!
Reiterating my stance from earlier that I am okay with /vnug/ taking /towa/'s place in the Vitubia map, though with the added caveat that I likely have the least authority on this matter due to not having been involved in that era of this project.

Viti magic has worked a bit differently from Vitubia's, in general it's more powerful and versatile. I like to think it works on the same fundamental principles, but the leylines of Viti just have more mana running through them or something like that. But yeah, it seems pretty common to have most divine's magicks do some basic magical tasks, like glowing, powering mechanisms, or communicating with the spiritual, and then the specific essences can have various unique effects. I do think different essences wouldn't be a drop-in replacement for another; it'd be like having a machine that runs on 12 volt batteries and expecting it to still work if you swapped in a 24 volt battery, or a fuel cell. A skilled magical craftsman could maybe make a conversion, but it'd take some work.
As for how hoomans deal with the trade of magical goods obviously that's up to you, but if there are regulations on this market you might see a black market of illegal magical goods dealing arise, which is always fun. that could tie into how those cults fund themselves and an added reason for them to stay underground.

- Reports said around 40 years earlier astronomers from the ever expanding Watson Industries (Then known as Watson's Industries) spotted a bright light in the sky that did not land any where and made a strange noise before vanishing into the night over /awat/
- Other nations did not report such sightings around these times so the only info gathered on them were from Astronomers
- These reports would be consistent during the fall to winter seasons for the next 10 years. No explanation would be given for years other than the occasional theory from locals who happen upon the event
- Many reports also claimed crop circle and other various lines in the shape of animals appearing around this time with no explanation of how they got there
- While the crop circles in the rural areas of /awat/ still had no explanation other than an animal walking around. The lines in the shape of various animals were explained to be remnants from older Teamate tribes but some still claim it was aliens
- While the light in the sky had stopped appearing for a number of years, speculation over what it could had greaten. Even starting a bit of a social gathering during the fall months to see if they can catch the white light in the sky
- Around a few months ago the light had appeared again and the now Modern Watson Industries managed to grab a picture of the light with their modern cameras
- After many scans of the photo the astronomers at Watson Industries had concluded that its merely space debris that burns up in the atmosphere and the mix of gasses causes the bright light to occur specifically over /awat/
- News outlets, despite this information still claim that Aliens exist and claim that Watson Industries actually captured one of the flying objects and are currently keeping their findings in side their building within the city
- It was recently discovered that bones of a creature resembling the anatomy of an Investagator was discovered with in the area normal over where the light in the sky would dissipate but the head structure was more narrow than, teeth serrated and eye sockets slightly bigger than a teamates.
- It was taken in by Watson Industries and is currently under investigations as of this report.

- While it's unknown who these individuals are, no one seems to question their odd skin colors as investigators themselves are odd to outsiders themselves
- They seem to bring along the "Starberts" that the train station uses to fuel the train itself. Previously noted that Watson industries had not known their exact origins. Seemingly it seems to come off world as theorized
- No Watson Industry officials have seen these 3 multicolored individuals and its mostly based on eye witness accounts. Some describe them as normal people with strange eyes, while others say they are foreigners

I'm open to the prospect of /who/ being used in the campaign setting if you believe it would work. Not entirely sure if the Owl Republic of Vitubia would fit the setting (being 1800's-era tech with little/no magic involved if my memory's correct), but Viti /who/ could be billed as a former theocracy whose people were humbled when their goddess lost Her divinity. The ruins of their once-great cities could be host to bands (or parties) of scavengers or salvage, or there could be investigations into suspicious activity that links to groups dedicated to a "Pink Angel" or "Primordial One" near the coast. I haven't submitted any lore about the current state of the military and I've been pretty bare regarding the daily life of Hoomans but these can likely be remedied within less than 24 hours of being asked to flesh them out if need be.

Not sure if there's a procedure when it comes to designating names for bodies of water, but if it's as simple as "if the rest of the thread's okay with it" I'd like to brand picrel as the Strait of Scotos. This name is in reference to the Scotopelia genus of fishing owls, for reference.
The two genera I have in mind for specbio Ochrocephalus Vrachnis and Orcinus Leucos have that body of water and the southern portion of the sea directly north of it as their listed habitats (shared), and I would like to know if I have the go-ahead on the name of the strait. I won't make any suggestions for the sea or ocean it connects to at this point in time, as they're not important for what I have outlined.

We Interrupt your lore break for a personal rant about this mother fucking sorcerer. Yes this is his first time playing and of course everyone literally is autistic or struggles socially hence the point of the program but when I told him "he says this thing to you in your head" he just goes "ok". And the idea of him sharing said info with the rest of the party just never crossed his mind. So I literally tell him "hey man you should probably tell your party that someone is talking to you using psychic magic" and his response is "ok I tell them".........
I facepalm so hard because I can not tell if he is just too nervous to roleplay or if the idea of roleplaying is just alien to him.

The Strait of Scotos is host to species that are ironically light in coloration.
One of these is the Pale-faced Pufferfish (Ochrocephalus Vrachnis). When this normally uniformly brown pufferfish puffs up, the coloration drains from most of its face save for the scales near the eyes, which quickly darken. This is believed to be a deterrent to would-be predators to compensate for the Pale-faced's poison being less lethal than the toxins found in other pufferfish.
Unlike most of its kind which possess a potent neurotoxin, the Pale-faced Pufferfish's poison is a deliriant. Those who make direct contact with its skin or liver regularly report a heightened sense of paranoia and often complain of suffering from nightmares if attempting to sleep within 24 hours of contact. This, combined with their taste being regarded as inferior to that of other pufferfish, has led to the Pale-faced Pufferfish being passed up as a possible delicacy by those who regularly fish in the Strait of Scotos.
Superstitions have arisen around the Pale-faced Pufferfish, with many who fish in the Strait of Scotos being highly fearful of it and taking proactive measures to prevent contamination. A common practice is to dump the contents of any net or trap that has a Pale-faced in its haul and to take the net or trap aboard below deck to be cleaned by whoever handled it. Said fishers who handled a net or trap suspected to be contaminated are typically quarantined with the aforementioned device for a full day at minimum.
The V-tail Orca (Orcinus Leucos), also found in the Strait of Scotos, is the only known natural predator of the Pale-faced Pufferfish. They are willing to eat other fish found within the Strait, but it is generally recognized that the local pufferfish is their primary food source. It is currently unknown if their mass makes the deliriant poison ineffective, there are adaptations in their digestive tracts to negate the poison, or if they're simply not bothered by it in some other way.
As indicated by its name, a visual distinction V-tail Orca has compared to other orcas is its tail fin, which has a longer and narrower split. There is no known functional benefit to this adaptation, thus it is believed to have a social function. This theory is supported by "Orca Observers" from /who/ consistently writing in reports that the species breaches the water's surface with its tail as a greeting to others.
Another recognizable visual difference between V-tail Orcas and other species is the greater rate of leucism. Those who have spotted pods of V-tails have often noted one member with light gray coloration. A leading theory is that individuals with leucism are hierarchically valued by the pod and become said pod's matriarch. This has led to ongoing debate and speculation among researchers: Can males not develop leucism? Is V-tail leucism developed over time, or are pups born with it? If a pod comes to have two leucistic orcas, how is the matriarch determined?
"The nation with the most interest in answering these questions is also the one that has the most stringent limitations on research and contact with them. /who/'s port towns highly value and revere the V-tail Orca and have consequently passed local laws preventing Hoomans from performing autopsies on orca carcasses that wash up on the shore (deemed "desecration of a corpse") or handling living beached orcas in any way that does not return them to open waters (deemed "abduction"). Crews are also not allowed to initiate contact with a pod or lone V-tail Orca, instead having to make do with observing them from a distance in the hopes of being approached by whomever they are observing."
Regardless of what these answers may be (and indeed whether the matriarch theory itself is true), one thing commonly recognized about the V-tail Orca is its intelligence. V-tails are known to follow fishing crews in the Strait in anticipation that their haul gets dumped, providing free food. Because of this, a common superstition held by fishers is to avoid casting nets in waters where local orcas are observed to swim out of fear of catching a Pale-faced Pufferfish. They have also, on multiple occasions, rescued those who have fallen overboard by swimming beneath them and then surfacing, saving the sailors from drowning while the crew brings them back aboard.
In spite of this, it is advised to avoid entering waters with V-tail Orcas, as they have an unfortunate tendency to breach the water's surface just beneath any voluntary swimmer and carry him or her off, never to be seen again. Though this practice is discouraged for obvious reasons, it is not unheard of for aging fishers or sailors to take off to "join the pod".

- Researchers of Watson Industries have claimed that this is a whole new race of people that used to live in /awat/ despite being the first skeleton they've found of this supposed old race
- Some are divided on this theory as some do actually believe they've come from off world due to it being found so close to the surface as opposed to the deeper layers of the planet, since if it were an older race it wouldn't have been so easily discovered
- Currently the space program is cross checking any odd discoveries that have happened within the planets airspace
- Currently there have been no strange sightings other than the already cataloged 'meteor' that used to fly in the sky
- The only current lead Watson Industries has is the bright light from previous events around the area
- Officials played around the idea that someone is playing a prank and managed to recreate a material that resembles bones from food they've eaten but they question why someone would go through this kind of effort.

If you're looking to add Ochrocephalus Vrachnis to your aquarium, by all means do so! Its disposition and diet are largely the same as other pufferfish, so keeping it healthy shouldn't be a problem. You may want to have a "do not touch glass" sign near their exhibit, though.
