The longest someone has been on ECMO is about a year, the longest someone without both lungs has been on ECMO is 6 days and has been only done once and the person had a set of transplant lungs ready so it's statistically impossible unless she has secured a transplant, so she has to have one coming even if she doesn't plainly state it

There's been very few cases where they've done transplants even if the patient wasn't cancer free, like really statistically rare, like in general she has to be an statistical anomaly on top of another (cancer at 18, then not being free of cancer and still getting a transplant, having the surgery be done one after the other instead of getting the full set in one as it's usually done, etc etc.)
Again not a qualified doctor but there's just a ton of details that are rather odd to me but she's probably just a confused and scared girl who is ESL and doesn't properly know what's going on or how to communicate it
