In the event that a miracle happens, a very happy correction will be issued.

That accounting student (where tf did you see "lawyer in training"?) is talking about streaming platforms but this is more about platforms like Ko-fi or Streamlabs. From the various news articles I've seen talking about the plan (which is no law, yet), they want to target the jobs our chuubas do: streaming, podcasts, or online content creation in general. Now, whether or not what they promise can actually be applied is something we'll see, but there's intent.

VexPo 2025 Review: P1

If I was to describe the event in one single word; I’d have to borrow directly from the streaming lexicon and deem it “Scuffed”.

Friday’s complete mismanagement embodies the sentiment of “Scuffed”. Whilst VexPo doesn’t formally start until Saturday, Akasupa (Early Bird) ticket holders and select general public members had the chance to purchase entry for the "Opening Concert" held on Friday evening featuring a variety of talent from the indie and corpo sector. Jelly sang Invisible by Duran Duran.

Now enter the problems.

With this being held at the “NEC” in Birmingham, you had to be in Birmingham for one. Next comes miscommunication, with most volunteer staff unable to ever provide clear answers. In turn, they had to abide by various health and safety measures implemented by the “NEC” venue; one of which saw the method of how lines got managed. Regular purchases in the left line, Aka in the right. Once the Aka line reached a certain length, it had to be sub-divided. This is due to the amount of ticket cabinets VexPo was legally allowed to open. It only gets worse! The QR system intended for ticket purchases wasn’t live. Meaning that everyone had to be manually processed in. For whatever reason, VexPo staff decided to permit ALL attendees the same ticket pick-up time. Without the scan system in place and with the queues sub-divided, this meant that on average; more non-Aka purchased tickets got processed before others due to length differences.. Defeating the point of the £60 to £120 price difference depending on when you paid and how many days you intended to attend for. Meanwhile the line system was just handwaved with a “rush to the front” method applied to entering the actual concert. The inconsistent micromanaging of the lines are a core theme (and fuck up) during the whole convention. MCM (another con in the UK) already has a time-gated system to ease people in per-payment tier. Ideally this is what VexPo does next time.

Something you won’t hear from many who attended was the fact that "influencers" and “media” could be permitted the chance to skip lines and engage with planned Meet & Greet talent. Which just so happened to occur in the biggest section featuring the likes of Project Melody, Dokibird and Matara Kan. Merryweather also would abruptly barge into whatever M&G he liked. Due to this and general technical issues at VexPo hosted gatherings, the average line time went over by almost an hour. In the case of the names I had listed, some almost took two to three hours. I received multiple reports from attendees of volunteer staff providing misinformation or outright lies to those in line for the M&G’s. Some got kicked out and told to line up again due to “required breaks”, others claiming that they needed the “Idol Anarchy” ticket to be present in the area despite it not being at the concert hall or said concert not starting for another few hours. Neither were confirmed true by the VexPo staff I enquired. I am hoping a feedback form is emailed to attendees, as one particular volunteer member spent a good amount of the convention on a power trip. But given he was shorter than most women in attendance, this does not surprise me.

As mentioned, VexPo organised events had countless tech issues. One seems to have been self-imposed. I was told by people involved and those attending conflicting panels of choice that VexPo had its own OBS plugin designed for the convention. This plug-in fucked pretty much every concert hosted locally in some manner. Opening, Idol Anarchy, Brit Concert and some others would either have audio delay, video delay or sometimes not even output one or the other. Whereas V4M and Globie seemingly learned from prior cons, with many performances pre-recorded with ad-lib speaking segments in between. Phase had Lia performing so you wouldn’t be able to tell anyway.

VexPo 2025 Review: P2

Away from VexPo branded chaos, the external stands seemingly knew the deal at hand. The Phase booth was a consistent hub of fan interaction and regularly selling merchandise with a delightful Pippa cosplayer keeping tabs on everything. The layout was perfect to keep traffic moving. Brave had two ends of the venue covered, with a very active merch stand besides Phase and depressingly empty at times Globie GIGA booth on the opposite side of the hall. Kawa Entertainment’s booth was messy with minimal branding but action packed. MosoBox had a lot of /here/ names doing M&G for free as did Veizo. I had not heard much of either, but these guys absolutely overdelivered and outdid VexPo at its own game. No tech issues from either. If anyone from those brands are just as /here/ as Kiki, pat yourself on the back. Variance Project and Re:Loop had some solid presence too, but I actively didn’t engage with them. Penny Puffball is cute I guess is my takeaway from them. IZIGENIA had staff roaming around on Saturday but that agency is still too young to judge on said actions. ASTRALINE was just the shite card game, with Merry and Lumi shitposting IRL. I saw other stands with iPads for indie M&G’s, but I didn’t actively partake because I felt it would be disrespectful to go up to them and spout vapid bullshit.

Panels and activities… It’s not that the placements or times didn’t make sense. It’s just the whole damn hall didn’t make sense at all. VexPo hosted M&G’s took place in the dead centre, which also meant you had to deal with line system autism. Thus if you wanted to go to the front or back of the venue, the traffic was gridlock in the middle. The Maid Cafe, which had some very family friendly rules, was sat right next to the 18+ art section. Sure, it had a veil, but it’s still stupid. The "activity stage” was boxed in by the entrance walkway leading to a lot of feedback noise. Poor Amiya just wanted to play retro games… I think what baffles me most is that this is a bigger hall than the year prior. They had plenty of time to overview the scope of the space provided and rather than play Tetris and nearly stack everything in, it was more a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos with everyone fighting for the middle.

Subject of hippos, let’s talk about the attendees just for a second. SO MANY OF YOU MOTHERFUCKERS STINK. The “NEC” had several hotels within walking distance. Most of you cunts told me so because it was one of the go to conversation points apparently for the socially inexperienced. That or they hoped I’d ask to fuck. Spraying your outer shirt with Lynx (Axe to Americans reading) does not stop the smell. It just layers it with a new stank. I’ve been to a lot of conventions and I’ve never encountered such heavy musk. Mostly Holo fans too I gotta point out. I went to nearly all of the fan meets and you guys wore sweat stain shirts like it’s something of pride. Calling you out Tako. Fuck two of the hotels I know offer free shampoo and gel AS STANDARD with your room. WASH YO’ PITS, FACE AND WHATEVER ELSE. CHRIST.

Apart from the aroma from some, the fan meets are basically THE selling point to VexPo outside interacting with your oshi. What you thought BUYING THINGS would be the highlight? No. The community effort I witnessed is truly outstanding and shows the pure nature of the vtubing fandom; amplifying only how shit /vt/ is at the best of times.. I saw a Niji fangirl at the Doki meet and not deem her the devil, I saw Phase fans going to grab some of Shondo’s cookies and not demand she apologise to Fishman. I even saw motherfuckers walk past the Globie section and actually give them a glance. Hell, I think I received far more free custom fan merch than what I ended up paying for. Shout outs to the /vrt/ anon and his pins might I add. You know who you are.

“But anon, I am anti-social as fuck” than frankly you’d fucking hate VexPo. Everywhere I went, people spoke and took the time to interact. Stinky or not. I saw a Black dude in a Mint coloured suit. He had flown in from Italy just for the fan gathering and to be with Wisps. I engaged with multiple French girls who came over because Cass from First Stage Production was doing a panel. I bumped into a guy who had flown in from Portugal because he just wanted the chance to get merchandise without huge tax hikes via shipping. One of my personal favourite interactions came from a young lady from Japan, very broken English, who just missed seeing cosplayers as she recently moved to London. If VexPo can take any credit, any pride in what it has done, it’s allowed for so many fandoms to have a place to connect on a deeper, personal level.

VexPo 2025 Review: P3/Final

Now for some random throwaway points that don’t need to be detailed
>The “NEC” staff have their own rules that clash with VexPo's own, leading to a lot of issues during closing hours. I saw a shouting match almost break out because the NEC guards refused someone back in who had (from my observation) won one of the standee bids. The VexPo staff snuck them back in and the person was out with the standee moments later
>If issues continue with Birmingham, Bristol would be the better spot to move to. London, Manchester etc. VexPo ain’t got the staff or foresight to risk such high traffic locations
>Standee sales. Dokibird went for £700, Mint was around £130+ and most of Globie’s didn’t even hit £10. Ouch
>Reform UK was hosting a con at the same time. You can imagine the fun these groups had upon passing one another
>If you are planning to come next year, any of the hotels near the venue are fine. The NEC is near a large mall with lots of food options. Going inner city or AirBNB will just see you paying more and having less time at the venue
>VexPo staff, having the Vtubers attending wearing face masks does nothing if you have them followed around with security wearing shirts that say “SECURITY” printed on the front and back. Basically put a spotlight on Froot all weekend.

I’ll close on this. If the core team that founded VexPo somehow reads this, a harsh amount of self-reflection is going to be required if they have any hopes of an improved expansion. Have a side-hall to put your panels and concerts, allow for the main hall to have more room for merch stands and other stuff. I saw you guys attempt video-games this year. Great. Just remember. You cramp the nerds together, it gets stinky. Side hall lets you do your line autism too away from everything else. TIME GATED ENTRY IF YOU ARE GONNA MAKE PEOPLE PAY £100 EXTRA. Oh and you should also pray that nobody else finds motivation to upstage you. If you fail to learn from this weekend, I could see another European con emerging and taking the buzz away. Though it would likely have to be in a country comfortable with English like Denmark.

If anyone has any questions or wants me to expand on the details shared, please do so.

Thank you anon. I seem to remember there being a lot of tech issues with Offkai too in the past, though fewer seemingly this year.
>I saw a Niji fangirl at the Doki meet and not deem her the devil, I saw Phase fans going to grab some of Shondo’s cookies and not demand she apologise to Fishman. I even saw motherfuckers walk past the Globie section and actually give them a glance.
It's always nice to have reminders that the catalog is not reality.

So based on all this would you go again despite the issues? Would you recommend to other anons interested to go next year?

>So based on all this would you go again despite the issues?
Something I should stress, I went alone. No, I am not one of those stupid fucks either who think's he'll somehow pick up a chick within 72 hours and rail her. The women in attendance are just as parasocial and autistic as the rest of us, lol.

However I've always been a unity fag and a social butterfly at these sort of events, so even being stuck in line for the Dokibird meet and greet was MOSTLY fine as I had like-minded people to chat with. I am disappointed I missed a good part of Lisa's performance because of it. But "Rock The Boat" was being performed in the hall right besides the line; so I still got to enjoy the audio portion of Lisa. I just wanted to see her little sheep face singing those angsty rock tunes. Had I pals depending on me? These issues would rightfully get more hate.

But to answer your question! I'd go depending on the scale of interest verses price. If the core focus was like VexPo 1 (Vshojo, Globie, Idol and a minimal amount of Phase) I wouldn't given the price scale. I think that itself is why Offkai is likely the leading event in American in my eyes. Just enough variety to make it work. I'd maybe drop down to a day pass if certain names are highlighted, because I am perfectly fine travelling too and from parts of the country for a day. Do that plenty as is for the Footie.
>Would you recommend to other anons interested to go next year?
I'd again return to my earlier point. I went alone and can be social. I ain't saying you've got to have the gift of the gab, but if you see someone with merch you like, a compliment is an easy ice breaker to have a quick chat. If you can't do that, you'd not have fun. Especially if the hall remains the same sort of scale vs. activities next year. I am about to upset some here but here is the harsh reality of things: Fan Discord servers for talents allowed for many of the meet ups to function. These are the type of people who'd be attending. They are the ones who gave me keychains, pins, stickers, spare merch. If you find these sort of people cringe as is, you'll FUCKING HATE cons. Lol

I'd say in terms of turnout? Biggest in order?
>Mint (Best cosplayers too)
>Niji (They held it at the end of the con, so you could see the hoard of girls at the exit)
>Phase =/= Holo (Phase didn't smell, just had lots of Eastern Europeans and Germans)
>Vexoria The Sun Eater =/= Elia Stellaria (Simps are built different, used flags to lure people in)
>Doki =/= Astraline (Short but focused)
>xvsj+ (It was mostly Froot and Zen fanboys)
>/vrt/ (But not really wink wink)
>FSP =/= Globie (Most of the fans of these went to the Niji one instead)
>Aegis Link / Barbie Girls / Re:Loop / Variance Project (Didn't attend)

Nice writeup anon. As a volunteer, all I will say is that we weren't really told about contingency plans if (when) things went wrong besides asking the team leader. Which works fine in theory but there were certain things that had to be sorted by higher up staff that were impossible to find, especially in the Friday chaos. Also I think I know the short powertripping guy you're talking about kek I agree that the M+Gs and fan meetups were the best parts of the con. Hell I even had some fun conversations with fanbases that /vt/ would make you think despise each other. Overall just being able to sperg out with complete randos about their itabags or the concerts/panels they attended was my favourite part, very few normies in sight.

Triggerphish's? I heard hers sold for $1111. Mint's definitely would have sold for much higher given how many Wisps were at the event, but they did a really bad job of promoting it. They should have let people bid on it while eating at the cafe, tbdesu.
Reviewanon did a good job of summarizing a lot of the problems with VExpo. I will also say that apparently the akasupas were supposed to get free merch, and many akas did not even know about this because they were not told to pick it up during registration. They need more staff, better tech, and a bigger venue next year, which is to be expected given how much it's grown. Maybe they should also start scheduling events on Friday as well, as having only the opening concert that night only means that more things are crammed in to Sat/Sun.
The fans and all of the vtubers are great. M&G lines could have used better staffing. One of the lines I was in had no one timing the M&G sessions, so each person was taking upwards of 5 minutes each.

Since NEC staff wasn't letting people back in, many of the bids had to be rejected. It's why some standees went so cheap. Nobody could access them due to NEC staff being cunts and locking the hall down like a crime scene. Had the mystery sale happened an hour prior, I suspect the fees would have been much higher. Especially for Mint

Sorry anon, but it's the nature of the beast. A lot of the people attending don't have the best social skills. I had this one chubby fella that kept running up to ask basic questions because I was one of the first to say hello to them at the /xvsj+/ meet. Others are so hyper focused on said oshi that you wearing even a keyring or pin will have them spout all sorts of love related to them. It's like witnessing a valve being opened for many in attendance. Because they finally have others to spout said love and joy about with others that may understand. I have no doubt in my mind that MANY of the attendees are likely hit hard with the post con blues because they won't get to have that sort of experience for another year. Maybe one or two will end up at MCM in London next month, but really it won't be the same.
>>104355999
>It's also making me wonder if I smell funny and don't notice.
Invest into a cologne and/or aftershave. While you might not be able to smell it after a couple of moments, that's because you become accustom to the smell. But many others will be able to still smell it!

I had this one lady working the Veizo stand stop me on Saturday. She complimented my shirt and said I smelt really good. I thanked her and said "So you've had to deal with a lot of boy smell today?" and she just nodded her head and laughed. Provided me her business card and than gave me the run down of the company. Pretty sure she only kept me talking because of my cologne.

My Vexpo review
>humble convention, but had more polish than last year. nicer booths
>the panel and m&g layout still leaves a lot to be desired
>queues were what they were, there is improvement to be made but really the main draw of Vexpo this year was the music
>opening concert set the tone for an enjoyable weekend
>Roca’s singing was out of this world the definite standout of the whole convention
>was a real treat to have multiple quality 3D concerts this year, it gave the con much needed legitimacy
>Phases concert was very good. The 3 girls did a good job and put on a good show
>Brave concert also good
>Big British Concert was very fun

>my review of vexpo as someone that went to both years
There was way less hoyoverse slop this year thank fuck. I met up with a few other chuubas/viewers I know and spent a decent chunk of saturday with them. I went to a mosobox meet and greet and the chuuba recognised me because I was cosplaying myself which I didn't expect. The concerts were good, although I heard the streams of them were scuffed and had fucked audio and the concert on Sunday morning had issues at the start but I got one of the first 100 people bags they were giving out. I heard there was some kind of unofficial after party and that someone was hospitalised but I don't know if it's true.
The lines were pretty bad for the most part and for the bbc concert the line wrapped all the way around the wall up to the maid cafe. When I got my tickets on Friday night they didn't clearly indicate which line was which so I ended up in the weekend one until one of the staff came up to tell people that akasupas were two different lines. Felt like a huge mess, also the qr code readers didn't work so it took even longer. I managed to get into the concert at least, my friend didn't even make it in because he had a weekend ticket and got there too late.
I don't like phase so I can't say what there concert was like but the indie one was good, I almost passed out from tiredness and went back to my hotel so I didn't see the idol anarchy one either.
Even on Saturday morning when I was near the start of the line the queue for the akasupa rewards was quite long and their card reader wasn't set up, so if you go in early make sure you bring a lot of cash next year I guess since it wasn't the only booth like that. The kawa entertainment booth also had card issues and I think I was in the line for half an hour, I also had to download paypal to be able to pay and then one of the guys converted the price to dollars and I ended up paying less than the price was on pounds because of it. They seemed to just trust people too since anyone could have just come up and grabbed shit off the booth. Some Indian couple came over when I was near the end of the line and just kept getting in the way and knocking keyrings off the table with their hapis.
The maid cafe looked bigger than last year but still seemed really busy so I didn't try to get a reservation, and it wasn't clear if you could just buy the merch without going in.
I must have been one of the few people that went to the globie booth at the back and I didn't even realise they were selling food because it was hidden at the back, would have gotten it there instead since the canteen was a ripoff, £6.25 for a mid sandwich and £3 for a drink, even MCM had better prices in may.
Artist alley was so full of people for most of saturday I couldn't even find things or take a proper look most of the time, and there's so many idiots that are completely unaware of their surroundings that just fucking stand in the way on their phone or in front of stuff for no reason.
The venue was also quite hot inside, which is understandable under a few layers of cosplay but there was only one water refill station anywhere nearby that didn't seem to work right and I had to keep moving my bottle to get it to work.
I had planned to go to the re:Loop m&g greet but I woke up late and then struggled to get coloured contacts into my eyes for so long I just went straight to the hall so I could get in early, also the 30 minutes of "early access" akasupas were supposed to get is meaningless if ypu have to queue up for ages at booths because their systems aren't working yet, at other cons it's usually a whole hour.
Seems like it was just badly organised in general since despite having almost twice the space it felt just as cramped as last year. Personally I didn't really have any issues with staff at all, but I didn't really have much interaction with them and I didn't go to any of the paid m&g, people are right about merry though he was constantly getting in the way and being fucking annoying.
I went to the holo meetup with a few others and it seemed fine, only really spoke to one person who approached us to talk about kiryu coco because my friend had her in an itabag. Also got a shondo cookie which made me feel a bit ill, too much baking soda I think. The funny thing is most of the fat people in the photo were actually Americans and some of the vendors.
Managed to get some stuff I wanted, as well as a few free things like stickers and a prototype keyring.
I hope they have a set date earlier next year and don't schedule it at the same time as the reform conference, there were tons of old cunts and their Palestine flags protesting outside my hotel.
Summary:
>badly organised placement of things inside
>badly organised set up on Saturday morning
>no schedules for events anywhere inside the hall
>event spread sheet fucking sucks
>bad at having accessible information
>more vetting of volunteers needed
It was fun and I would go again next year.

VShojo continues to hit new lows as they offer to give merch, that was already purchased by fans, to talents who wave their rights to go after the months of backpay that they are owed. Turns out VShojo can't even make good on that deal, however, as they've not paid the warehouse the storage fees, and the warehouse won't let the stuff go until they do:
...and it's Kson again, so... Search Youtube for "Kson: VShojo goes even lower with a new hostage dilemma"

Blah. That's come across my desk a few times now and I've been ignoring it, as the one accusing him of SA is Adora, not of her own account, but based on a third hand anonymous report that didn't even name the victim. That might be enough to avoid the guy yourself, but not enough to announce it to the whole world as she did. It'd be pure Twitter drama, but Taka, who has a lot of people more trustworthy than Adora vouching for him, has apparently gotten lawyers involved and plans to return to streaming soon. Dunno if he intends to start the vtuber bar up again though.

In news equally undeserving of the round up, Umamusume reports that the horse Haru Urara passed away September 9th, but that's at least something that your oshi may actually bring up.

It should be noted that Adora was involved in drama involving somebody else close to her as well. It got drowned out because /vt/ basically said "I have no idea who any of these people are", and there was other shit going on (the accusations came forth about the same time as Saruei's most recent art scandal with the DMCA abuse, among other things that came after, drowning both out).
It really doesn't have a place in /news/, because not only are the allegations old, but they're from an untrustworthy and unverified source. We may as well go back to reporting on every 2view google dockey, and I'd really just rather not.

Note that the financial results for the EN branch are on page 48 (of 51) on the second publication. Also note that page 7 of the same document lists EN as having 30 livers; as of the end of Q1 (31/7/25) this is accurate, because Reimu and Rosemi hadn't graduated yet.

Thanks for sharing. I see they still use that image.

NijiEN's YOY revenue has been down for 9 quarters; that's not good. AnyColor as a whole is doing great, but this branch is holding them back.
I would love to have profits quantified just for EN to see if they are at least stable or doing better on that front. (This could confirm if the chuubas are getting less support due to less general revenue, like some (ex)talents seem to tell.) Otherwise, it's difficult to think it's still worth it as is, and they should merge all into a single NIJISANJI branch to muddy the waters a bit.

As somebody that's been active on the VeXpo discord, if you weren't paying attention to it you would have missed a ton of information about the con. All of the meetups were organised via it as well. Stuff was put on the website and other places, but in 2025 most things are organised on discord.
As for general fan discords, if you want to participate in birthday/anniversary projects for talents those are usually organised on the fan discords. All down to how much you want to interact with the community really.

Lucid Joined (Was bought?) by super state holding, (Giant Japanese conglomerate) mid-late 2024, which owns Strawberry Prince among a lot more stuff but they… left them(?) https://x.com/welcometolucid/status/1920252303182802973 says this notice on May 7th.

It's like witnessing a valve being opened for many in attendance. Because they finally have others to spout said love and joy about with others that may understand.
My panic disorder medicated wouldn't be too "happy" about that either. I think I can safely discard the idea of ever going to a vtuber con. I feel like I can get the best parts by listening to chuubas who I care about sharing stories without the negative side effects.
