The issue that comes with meet and greets is that it's privatized interaction, which is bad in a supposed marriage where shadow is supposed to be for everyone. Prior to them, like anon said, a big point was to keep ourselves hidden (voice, face, hands, etc. She would go out of her way to avoid interacting with such things). However, after a short notice (for us) trip to to L.A. for some VA work (we still don't know what it was), during which she stayed with her good friend and fellow vtuber, Olivia Monroe, her opinions on doing meet and greets had drastically changed. It was during this short trip (i think a week long, i forgot), which happened right before her eepy rabbit debut and at the end of her 3 month long hiatus, that she was on the same room as oli when she was doing her own meet and greet at AX. During this brief time of two hours, shondo got inspired to do meet and greets too after seeing how good oli and get community had it.
So, after 3+ months of not streaming and with little updates, she goes away on a trip with a friend and then comes back with entirely different beliefs about a key aspect of the relationship dynamic. On top of this, the trip itself was full of yabs.
Furthermore, this trip further inspired her to fundamentally change, though she rejected the idea the she was influenced by oli in any way.
After coming back in June or so, she hurries to set up a meet and greet. Being given a chance to do one due to oli pulling some strings, she schedules a meet and greet in august (barely 2 months after coming back with a debut and new merch). This already makes it hard for most regulars to show up, but she tells people that she will do as many meet and greets and in as many locations as she can in order that no one misses out on them so they don't have to feel bad. Of course, she later does things that make such a fact irrelevant, such as specialised and unique events at future meet and greets (shondo cutout, 3d model meet and greet, cookies, robot).
Given the fact that we already had a pretty special community (most parasocial and dedicated), it's not surprising to see how damaging meet and greets are when they directly challenge the established community standards for interaction and the status quo, along with the context in which they were introduced.
Post hiatus was also a changing point for many other things, which further influenced everything. The most damaging decision is certainly this one, alongside the deciding to not care about FOMO bros anymore
