It's a stage-based retro-inspired platformer, where each stage has a unique and new theme and generally a new mechanic, and is separate from each other stage, connected via "hub worlds".
Like you go to Gura's Atlantis, and the gimmick is that it's all underwater with these sections that accelerate you fast and ping pong you around. Or an Ame "End of Time" themed level where you explore tombs and the entire world flips upside down when you hit hourglasses. Or Fauna's World Tree, where the seasons change and Fauna grows trees to change the level. or an entire level themed around big bubbles of stopped time that you stop and restart strategically to navigate obstacles. Or a Gamers themed arcade level where the entire level is a gigantic pinball machine that flings you around. etc. etc. etc.

Everything is themed after hololive members, and I generally found that it surprised me and kept me interested.
