Goodness, I only just noticed how silly our group stage situation is. We and /HiRyS/ have the same exact stats after two matches and we'll be playing each other tomorrow. If we draw, that automatically means we'll have to play them again in a playoff match, and I don't even know when that match would happen. Hell, /brg/ and /become/ are in the exact same scenario too.

Scenarios:

At minimum we advance to the round of 24 immediately (top 2). If we finish 1st and our stats are good enough for us to be one of the 8 best performing group toppers, then we immediately advance to the round of 16 (absolute best case scenario).
>we lose
If the other match is a draw, we die immediately. If it's not a draw, I think the head2head matters more than the other stats, so it's a toss-up. Even in the best case non-draw scenario (we only lose by 1, the winner of the other match wins by a margin of 4+), our goal difference will be -2, which means we're likely to end up as one of the two worst 3rd placed teams, ie we die immediately.

Her resilience is legit and more than a few times I've ended up watching her streams just to focus better or otherwise get my mind off things on a bad day. Big reason why she's the only vtuber I watch with any semblance of regularity, and that's despite her regular streaming time being really bad for me.

doki is so good at this it's almost scary. she's pretty much constantly doing bits and making people laugh, works her ass off because she loves what she does, and regularly goes above and beyond just because she appreciates her fans a lot. only downside of watching her is winning the "parasocially attached to an anime bird woman on the internet" award

Hasn't happened to me, so your mileage will vary. The big thing for me though is that even the goons that are parasocial have more of a sense of normality to them than 99.9% of /vt/. Through who she is and what she does, she just effortlessly attracts more well-adjusted fans. That's a huge green flag to me.

Man ngl Goons the loss stuck to me a lot, and I felt like I failed by just being a Caretaker because I know the team is way better with managed tactics. I guess it's just my autistic ass.

That didn't exactly work out well for us in VTL8, did it? There's always going to be an element of randomness to this whole thing and I guarantee you that you would've been super overwhelmed had you immediately jumped in as a manager. Caretaking was the right thing to do. There's more to having fun in this whole divegrass thing than just winning. If you want to manage in the future, you'll have opportunities to do so, like in the DBC in a few months.

Yep. Like I said a while back, I'm happy to continue helping the team, making models, commissioning art and doing other things to make other goons happy, but I've got too many things to complain about to be the manager anymore. Without Caretakergoon, odds are the team would've faded away, and as you can tell, its continued existence is most certainly making people here happy.

I personally think many of the goons interested in divegrass would benefit a lot from seeing how other events with their own rulesets operate. Big reason why we signed up for the Christmas event last year, and given how much the thread enjoyed the 7-1 thrashing of /rats/ that saw us go from dead last and trailing everyone by 3 points to advancing in 2nd via a 9-3-3-3 miracle, I'd say it was very much worth it.

That's asking too much. Her ineptitude and the fact that said ineptitude literally precedes the creation of our own team adds flavor to the team and makes her every bit as iconic as the medal players. Good/funny models are nothing if the players that use them can't write their own story through their actions.

Oh yeah, if I'm not mistaken, I believe Selenbear is also the last remaining relic from the Selen era, which in and of itself is really iconic. A big reason why I want us to have a secondary Selen-focused team that we could use for other events is because I sometimes find myself wondering what the team would've looked like back in those days.

Not just in theory - she (temporarily replacing retro Doki as the now-dropped Skinsuit DLC player) was in the starting lineup in one of our DBC matches last winter. Highly recommend watching that match if you haven't already - it's one of our best ones.
