Confession: it annoys me when everyone fawns over certain individuals that have made an art of setting themselves up as victims despite some of the “hate” being exaggerated at best, fabricated at worst. Since we're talking about fanservice in Altus' stream right now, I wanna say that I wish the fanservice he did was more rare. He was gifted with a lovely deep voice and accent, and blessed with a God-tier sex+cute combo model, but I feel like he's fumbling it by overdoing it with the fanservice. I like the cool lore and characters he does like Spiderdoji and Nyandoji, but the whole fanservice wheel is really cringe. And I don't like calling things cringe. When I send supas I want to talk about something normal, bounce off of something funny he said, or banter with him. I don't want to send it as some sort of transaction to only get fanservice out of him. I want to have a conversation about his Warhammer interests or Ultraman or workout tips, not spamming about yaoi and babygirl and whatever else his zoomer chat spams every stream. And I don't like how I sound controlling because I'm not trying to get him to stop it all completely or turn him into a seiso person if that's not who he wants to be. I just want it to be toned down a bit. Fansa doesn't feel special if you get it SO much. And it enables a spoiled and entitled chat. Maybe I'll send a streamlabs about it.

As for advice, I'll say the same thing. Don't overdo it on fanservice. Every vtuber regardless of gender does fanservice in some capacity. If you make that your whole personality right off the bat, why should anyone stick with you instead of the 8435749654 other vtubers that can do the exact same thing? Be different and connect with your audience through their interests with you, not through their pants. If you want to do fanservice, at least wait a while until people can know what your favorite color or favorite video game is first. If you just do shipbaiting and yumebaiting and a bunch of kisses barely a week after your debut, keep in mind the kind of audience it'll attract too. You'll just get fans that will see you as a walking dildo. And I'd better not hear you complain about being treated that way when you're the one who made yourself out to be that way in the first place. I'm saying this not just because of Altus, but because I've seen the effects of this after watching vtubers for years. If you want to do vtubing for a long time, then you have to think about these things in the long run. Think about how your actions will affect you in the future. I'm not saying you need to overthink about every little word you say but every big content-making decision will shape you and your audience in the long term. Learn from the other guys' chats and maybe write down things you want to go over in you debut 2.0. And reiterate it throughout multiple streams and enforce those rules and guidelines so it can get through people's heads. Don't be afraid to call people out by name for them to really get it. Good luck.

Typically when people don't want collabs from the opposite gender it's because they think the streamer is their pretend lover or something. That seems more true for male fans. While it is true for a lot of female fans too, it's mostly because female vtubers always cause trouble everywhere they go. I'd rather guys avoid them so they won't be involved in any drama. Ever notice any vtuber related drama between opposite genders involve the female being victimized no matter what? Even if it's caused by her, you and your fanbase will still be demonized even if you apologize. I still see people to this day blaming either Vox, his fans, or both for what happened in 2022 despite the "hate" being from throwaway accounts likely made by phasefags. It's best to stay away from them in the first place.

It's been said before that the people interested in watching female vtubers are there for the girl. Don't be a waiting room. I've seen it happen with Tempus. If you do get people that like both genders, a good chunk of them will beg for collabs to try and "own" your "parasocial" fanbase and not stick around for you. And then an even smaller chunk of those beggars might genuinely want a mixed collab without any malicious intent. It's not worth the effort to find out which is which. It's better to network with other boys or focus on your own thing. At least those people are actually interested in men. The algorithm will pick you up and I've noticed certain vtubers will get pushed if they play certain games, especially ones that aren't played more often because someone will be looking for a person that plays that obscure game.

If you're going to join this corpo, it's already small enough as it is. Why make a decision that will not only shrink your already small fanbase but will cause you to have less people send money, buy VPs, and buy merch? Collabs in general don't make much in superchats, so why shoot another hole in your foot? You also have to remember, this thread is the only /visible/ place where you can see unfiltered opinions and stances on collabs. There's discords, other sites, locked accounts and twitter groups, etc. And of course there's lurkers who may thread watch but never post. So for every complaint you see about a female collabs, there could be who knows how many others that agree.

In the end, you have to remember you are in a corpo now and the higher ups will treat this as a business, so you have to keep that in mind too when you make choices that can affect the business. Don't end up like Specialite where all the girls did whatever they wanted, didn't attract a unique audience, and didn't set themselves apart from the dozens of other corpos out there and thus didn't make enough money to keep the company afloat. The company invested in giving you the opportunity, so they expect a return on their investment. Don't turn it into a negative by going "I can do whatever I want with my decisions you parasocial fuck!!" and then costing yourself and the corpo money. Don't get caught in the toxic positive hugbox that is twitter; they have dozens of other vtubers to watch, you only have one job.

Seriously it really baffles me. I'm usually one who doesn't think the fiction you're into needs to reflect your sexuality but with them it REALLY gets to a point. The worst part about them is their CONSTANT fucking begging of male vtubers to be more feminine, asking for a female model (?????), and of course the female collab begging. I'm so tired of seeing dykes in chat refer to a male vtuber as "girl". No one calls a female vtuber "bro, my guy, boy, etc". Some of the worst shit I've seen said to anyone from "fans" is stuff I've seen said to male vtubers by lesbians. I'll never forget that time one of them said something awful to Malim and I heard him pause for a second. Obviously he had to say "it's okay" to not make her feel bad but even she realized how mean it was and had to apologize. Then there was the time someone sent Rosco a superchat saying he'll die alone a 40 year old virgin and even the entire chat was taken back and he was silent for a whole 2 minutes. He bounced back but that silence was painful. During the confessions section of Gale's subathon, someone admitted to ghosting a guy and thought it was funny because she's lesbian. The chat called them out for saying it wasn't right but Gale still told the chat to not say anything. And don't forget the countless comments of dykes fully admitting to not buying the boy's voice packs because of their sexuality. Usually if you can't support anyone monetarily you keep it to yourself but I've seen so many of them just outright say "ummm I'm lesbian so I'm not buying your voice pack". One time I checked the timestamps of one of Gale's ASMRs, Berry took over and said something along the lines of "I'm not gonna force a lesbian to listen to a man whispering in her ears". And any time a guy does a bit of yume fanservice the chat is flooded with pushback and saying ewwww and ruining it for everyone else. And there's still so many more examples. So many of them say the meanest things and I don't know how the boys put up with it. Banter is one thing and I know the boys can handle that but I've gotta say I never believed the whole "lesbians are mean" stereotype until I've been in the vtuber fandom. At this point I just figured men enjoy being insulted for their gender if they keep enabling that behavior. I'm glad Rosco's banter is getting harsher to finally put some of them in their place. I'm just talking about First Stage because they're the most recent examples but I've seen the same shit happen in both Niji and Holostars chats.
