Koikatsu supports all the NSFW stuff out of the box (at least with the most common distribution). I have no idea how MMD does it, but it probably requires plug-ins and model editing

More accessible to non-JPs, both software & community-wise; no sane people outside of Japan would even bother to learn an outdated piece of proprietary software for gooning, might as well just learn Blender
MMD modelers (the R-18 ones, at least) are even more menhera than KK ones, good luck finding a decent model without splurging some fat stacks of yens

Because MMD models are really big. A 1GB MMD model takes something like 15 GB to store

Hololive did release the MMD models in the summer but it was several months after they released them for Advent. Cover either twisted arms to convince Kronii to release her model or they actually delayed the entire gen so they could avoid releasing models for Fauna and Mumei. That all their nendos for their gen have been cancelled with no explanation is suspicious even for Hololive.

MMD is the awkward middle ground between serious animators (Blender) and hobbyists (Koikatsu) and there's not much of a place for it these days unless you cut your teeth on it and know the ins and outs to an extreme degree.

Wait, just to clarify. MMD isn't very good specifically if you're making porn. If you want to do SFW stuff then yes MMD is easier than Koikatsu because the porny aspects of Koikatsu's engine will interfere with attempts to use it for SFW if you have any ambitions greater than still images.

It's also only better if you have actually good cards to work with, but considering Hololive is super mainstream I'd be willing to bet every single one has a very easy to find high quality card out there.

Yeah I've seen those too. Just ripping accessories and hairstyles off of the MMD's and turning them into mods for a KK character to use. Then copying textures for stuff like the irises and you've basically got a 95-99% identical model that's built for sex.

The last one they did with Calli was beyond wack, they definitely tried to make a blender model of her from scratch to not make the face resemble 1:1 with the original model's, but the end result was cartoonishly uncanny... They made her look like a Barbie with pink hair.
